Player The blessed howl's moving Castle of Stephon Javonte

The fact that this guy kept battling through even when the refs were not calling the fouls… a testament to his character. We saw last week what megastars like Luka do when fouls dont get called, they whine and dont get back on defense. Castle kept going at them and kept attacking.
It's so nice that we don't have any crybabies that give up on plays to whine to the officials instead of getting back on D. "Pure and ethical basketball" tbh

His workouts with the guard whisperer are paying off bigtime. I've seen a bunch of attacks where he closes the gap after a defender moves towards him, something you can see him work on in those videos.

He has improved his Ft percentage since the beginning games of the season. At the very start I wasn't confident in his ability to hit them at a decent percentage but he has steadily improved as the season has progressed

if it can carry into his 3-point shooting, that would be great

15/7/12 with just 2 turnovers.
5-15 FG, but was blatantly fouled on at least 3 of those and a couple more were putbacks by Kornet.

Did an admirable job on Brunson who scored on him just once by my count and got shooting FTs once.

Jrue/Jimmy ceiling prediction I had last year was true, tbh.

there were some possessions where he got fouled 3 times and still didn't get a call

Yeah, that drove me insane. I don't understand how can guys like Luka, Brunson (although not much in this game), Shai get softer calls in general, yet Steph clearly gets fouled and no calls. WTF has happened there? He was getting more calls earlier in the season, but I don't remember if the games he was getting calls were against good or big market teams. The commentators barely say anything (they did say there was a foul once, but other than that, they kept their mouths shut when he was clearly getting fouled).

I freaking love the way he played and didn't complain and bitch about it. Imagine Luka. He probably gets ejected for going off his tree if he was getting fouled like that with no calls. JJ Reddick probably gets tossed for going off on the refs if it was him coaching (Mitch has to take an ejection if this keeps happening. He can't be a nice guy to the refs about it). Steph and Dylan, both are inspiring to me with their play. The poise they play with, don't get rattled, keep playing hard. I love both these guys. He might not have scored much (should have scored 20+ with the free throws he was owed on those non calls), but man did he bring the 110% Dylan was talking about after the game that the team needed to play with to win. I just hate the inconsistency of NBA referring. It really makes it feel like a fix or favoritism is in to help a certain team out sometimes.

the only thing I have to criticize is that he gets caught ball watching. That OG backdoor cut from the corner in the first quarter and that wide open Kolek lay up in the 4th were both on Castle completely forgetting his man

One thing I love is that Castle quickly and relentlessly pressures the lane. They're instructed to move the ball extremely fast up the court and get towards the bucket. Not necessarily to immediately get a shot, unless it's there, but to start bending the defense and make them have to make decisions on coverage. The threat is immediate and constant

Ohhhh so sorry, it was posted already

my apologies Sir Exstatic

Looks like Draymond has a lot of respect for Castle. I think he sees a bit of himself in Steph in how hard he plays and impacts winning.

I said a similar thing yesterday when someone bought up Dylan having a higher ceiling (he very well may have) as I think Steph has played a big part in helping turn the Spurs around to a winning team and I don't think enough people are giving him credit for it.
Didn't quite say it like Draymond, but I just thought he stepped in as a rookie and bought winning habits to the team, didn't give up in games where a lot of the other players were just folding (The Spurs would get down in some games and Steph would still be trying to bring the team back and at least compete. We weren't seeing that from anyone else the previous years except Victor his rookie year towards the end of the season), and IMO he has sort of helped push the Spurs into winning with his confidence, high BBIQ and overall play out there on the court on both sides of the ball.

Love the year he has been having. Defense is noticeably better and more consistent. He has real synergy with Wemby/Kornet too. The turnovers need to be reeled in obviously, he seems to get an early boneheaded one each game in the first possession or 2 lol.

Also, his catch and shoot 3s seem way further along than his OTD 3s...hope he lays off the OTD 3s.

He is doing plenty out there. He doesn't need to be an amazing 3 point shooter. I even notice that midrange game picking up. Would I love it if he knocked down more of those 3's sure, but now people are just getting greedy.

You guy think he has a chance to be all star this year?

I think he might have if he and Vic are the undisputable 1-2 punch. But as the Spurs have a deep bench and balance attack with 6 to 8 players potential scoring in double figures, it would be hard for the league and coaches to select another Spur other than Vic.

He started taking and making more of those midrange jump shots before he went out with the hip injury. I'd like to see him start taking and making more of those midrange shots again.

AWe're currently in second place. If we maintain this trend, there will be two selected players. Wemby and Fox? Castle?

As for All-Star, I'm not sure if he'd be picked. He's an All-Star in my book. At certain points I've thought Vic and De'Aaron can get in, but I'm also thinking the same thing with Steph. Not sure if they'd pick more than one Spurs player. I'd say Fox and Steph have sort of taken a bit off of each other's chances as they've taken turns playing great basketball for the Spurs. Still lots of time to go and one of them could make it. I'd say the Spurs have to have a top 3 record to get a second All-Star.
