Misc The abandoned East European server room of LJ and Kori Ellis

That's a feature, not a bug tbh.

I miss him always posting as if he was forum's voice of reason only to get absolutely triggered whenever someone beats him in an argument.
The repeated stfus aimed at anyone who disagrees when he gets trigged will always be hillarious. :st-lol:
Nah, maybe he had a short fuse but the guy was always posting basketball takes, one of the most active posters in terms of scouting, contributed a lot these past few years where brutal seasons could only be redeemed through high draft picks. I for one hope to see him around, he'll add to the board. Same as Dejounte, despite his tiring "I told you so" when he was right (and selective amnesia when he wasn't), he was one of the most active and best contributors and hope he will be joining. TD21 comes to mind as well, I know he had beef with many here but had many interesting basketball takes.

I liked many of Mr. Body's takes, personally, and would be glad to see him show up. I think he'd be happier here. Or maybe less happy without telling people they piss on themselves or whatever, who knows how these things work.

"Piss baby" was his go to :st-lol:

Even though his takes were usually garbage and he was incredibly far up his own ass constantly, Body was a solid contributor

The diversity of ideas is what makes ST great, tbh. I hope these folks make it over.

LJ and Kori were always idiots. Time to reset Spurs online fandom

LJ and Kori carried the piano of a Spurs board during years and gave Spurs fans a place to discuss, they helped build a community for fans all over the world. We are all grateful for that, they then decided to give the keys of the board to somebody who did not take care of it. They chose imo the wrong set up and the wrong people but had to pay the bills for years one of the best if not the best fan board of the internet. If we have this community starting over here it is also thanks to them so gtfo with your idiots

Their only mistake was the lack of transparency, I'm sure whatever they got from that DC23 guy or whoever bought the domain would've been matched by the community we have here.
For all the good work they did, it was really disrespectful from them to never announce anything to the community with that idiot using LJ's profile to write generic post-game grades.

Also, I think we should stop talking about ST.
Can't go backwards in time, noone is forcing people to switch here, everyone has their choice and as long as noone is disrespectful here, I don't really care what goes on at ST.
I checked it yesterday and political talk spilled over to ST subforum, I'm officially out.

Buddy, LJ and Kori built Spurstalk from the ground up. I will be forever grateful for what they have done for the community. To now say they were "always idiots" is disrespectful.

Hope they would join this forum in the future, even though sometimes I wished they didn't just disappear into thin air.

LJ and Kori Ellis. I actually never chatted with either of them, and I was at Spurstalk for well over a decade. Also, I never knew who was the husband and who was the wife.

I did a bit of research to try to get the record straight about ST as I had in mind that a discussion took place about ST future and such. If I'm not mistaken the first time we heard about Kori and LJ handing over the forum was in 2016 with this thread:

https://www.spurstalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=263867&highlight=server called the future of SpursTalk.

In this thread timvp let it clear that him and Kori were not anymore "owners" and had no more admin roles in ST. Ideia was, at that time, to raise money with in particular making new comer pay or whatever, LJ also stated that they donated 3,000 $ for the transition period. Since then nothing much happened as we know... LJ continued to contribute "normally" untill the episode of games grade only posted on the main page and not engaging anymore in the talks and the down time, slow server, bots kept on happening.

DC23 registered in 2019 and posted a website hosting update in june 2024. I don't know if he was the original "buyer" under a different name or if he adquired it afterwards.

So in a sense it is wrong to say they never announced anything but one cannot say that all has been dealt in a transparent manner since then.

Anyway baselinebums works and in a couple of weeks gon, scott, addicted... have been able to put together a great place with a lot of features we wanted while financing a whole year of server in a couple of hours. If both forums can thrive it is great for everybody but as of today I'd put my money on baselinebums.

Don't worry guys, they're updating ST to the generic looking invisionboards so that transition will go great. I'm sure they'll have no downtime or slow downs.

No. If you know how to do that or if you know someone who does message the admin. I would like to help set this up so that we have an optimized landing page or proper description for search engine results.

I do think it’s important.
Probably late to this party, but I just setup a bunch of SEO stuff that'll hopefully help, and setup specific stuff with Google, but it'll take time to validate and see if it pans out. It also does just require a lot of traffic and access to pages over time, so hopefully the start of the season gets more activity here and in the coming weeks and months it get more attention.

We shall see. If you have any other ideas pls PM me!

didn't realize spurstalk still had a pulse. Really appreciate what Kori and LJ did, and compared to other forums (think it was spurs report or ptr) spurstalk's community always stood out. But man this site is refreshing as far as things just working e.g. post history search, ease of "likes", etc. And as someone who didn't post all the time it honestly took me sometimes a good minute just to figure out how to embed a youtube clip.

Holy shit, what a find - they really had announced the change of ownership of Spurstalk! First time coming across that thread.

That post answers almost all the questions most of us had when ST went down, tbh. Timvp and Kori have been long gone, it's no surprise another user had to reach out to let Kori know that ST was even down in the first place. I'm surprised at the effort by Timvp to not mention who the new owner/admin was... You'd think it would be well-received among the community if it truly was a "trusted original member of SpursTalk who we're confident can guide this ship to its full potential".

I actually have a lot more closure now, thanks :st-lol: It's great to see that they gifted $3,000 to help keep ST alive even as they jumped ship, and that they're not really to blame for the recent downfall of the site.

One does wonder though why timvp disappeared, when he explicitly mentioned an increased forum presence as his first reason to step down...

It was almost 10 years ago, no wonder why people forgot the thread tbh.. I did not find any real follow up thread after than other than the website hosting thread of june 24 and the more recent one. Domain is now registered in Reykjavik

not sure what happened and if dat DC23 dude is taking care of it since 2016 but I doubt it

I’m guessing there was an NDA involved. The horrible performance of ST led to this place, but I think most decided to stay and make this a home when it was revealed that Kori and LJ don’t run the old place any more. If they had put up bids, people would have known they were out, and an exodus would have followed. They would have gotten a lower price.

I don't think any NDA would allow the new ownership to impersonate previous owner's both virtual and real identity.

you really think that somebody is impersonating timvp or you trolling ? :st-lol:

I think that the post-game grades we joked about as AI timvp weren't that far off the truth. I doubt it was LJ posting them.

well I've seen crazier things but I find it hard to believe :st-lol:

Wow, this was during a period where I wasn't active on ST, so I completely missed this when it happened.

Some of the rest of y'all seemed to just completely forget though :ROFLMAO:

Great find

I somehow missed this as well. Makes sense why things started going down the shitter once Kori and LJ stepped away.

Whoa...I posted like 3 times in that thread and don't remember it at all :st-lol:

So some original unnamed member has been the ST shadowlord for the last decade. 🤔

There's not even a game thread over there. That place is dead.
