Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

All these are great ideas. I'm happy with Klay too. He was one of my main targets. I think he'd get along well with the young guys. At least he's a guy that has played defense in the past when he was younger/healthier. Maybe he can somehow turn back the clock in the playoffs and at least play average defense. I don't know if it's a physical limitation for him these days or an effort thing due to Dallas trading away Luka leaving him nothing to play for anymore.

He's just too slow-footed after the injuries, but we're not a team that needs to hide anyone else on defense, so it's fine.
And he'd probably come off the bench.

Fox/Devin/Klay/Champ/Wemby lineup when the shooters are hot would be able to rival the best offenses in the league.

I haven't watched him much since leaving GSW, so I wasn't sure, but sounds like the injuries did him in. I had the least amount of hate for him out of all the Warriors core players. The guy came to play in the biggest games. Legit Championship player that I would really like to have on the team. He has so much knowledge he can pass on to the young guys too.

And with the Sochan news today, I think it's all but confirmed that the FO will be making a move of some sorts -- though I can't see the Jeremy market being viable to begin with. Hopefully the Spurs just "put him out of his misery" and send him anywhere just to get his bad vibes off the locker room.

Honestly, a Fox-level trade would be SO GOOD right now....... Assets be damned. A man can dream!

Still think it's very unlikely the Spurs make a "big splash" mid-season. Sure, we might ship away Sochan for some other end-of-the-bench guy/2nd round picks but that's about the extent of what I'd expect.

Theoretically Olynyk's expiring contract could be moved but we're just so thin at center that I don't see that happening unless we're getting another big in return.

The more I think about it, the more I think we make go get Kuminga. I know the arguments against it and I've made those arguments myself. When I look at the landscape out there and there just doesn't seem like there are many likely opportunities i start lowering my expectations and I'm ending up here. We all know the arguments against, but here are the reasons I could see this being in play. 1) GS is a pretty soft landing spot for Sochan and he could fit in there, 2) Kuminga is a pretty good defensive player, 3) lots of athleticism, and 4) even though his outside shooting numbers are mediocre they look better when he was in a starting role, which basically means they were better before things broke down and he wanted out.

Any of the guys in this grouping thst we could potentially go after (Kuz, Hunter, Aldama) are going to require that 2027 Atlanta pick. Aldama would be my top choice, but I just don't see Memphis doing that. So, if I have to give up thst pick for one of the other two, I'm going Kuminga because I can get out of his contract if necessary and there's more upside.

I wish Jeremy the best if he's traded. I hope the Spurs can at least get someone useful back for it. I'd hate to see it as a completey wasted draft pick. I wish it worked out better for him on the Spurs as he's a likeable guy. I would have been happy if he could have just averaged 8pts, 6rbs and block and steal a game. If he could have done that with good defense on top of it, he would have been really valuable to the team. I would have been fine with him being a poor shooter if he still took them and could make around 30% on average. I really wonder what went wrong to not give him any court time. Was he just not picking up the defense the team wants to play, or was it an attitude problem, or something else.

If he does get traded, I hope he goes to a team that isn't a rival as I don't want to root against him to do poorly.

I doubt the Warriors would give up Kuminga for Sochan and Olynyk. Althogh there's a report saying they don't want DeRozan or Monk because they'd like to have an expiring contract in return. I assume they really want to squeeze some draft capital out of this deal, but no team is offering it.

For the Spurs I would do it, simply because: You can trade him next season. And Kuminga in an increased role will be better trade bait than Sochan and Olynyk. Now yes he is a knucklehead and wants too much money, but he's decent shooting from the corners, is athletic and plays well in transition. So the Spurs could just give him a role, let him play, see how he looks. Take the team option and if you want somebody else just package him in a deal next season.

None of those guys are worth an unprotected FRP.

Sochan for Knecht matches salary wise. I would love to take a flyer on that and would be willing to include a second rounder.

Jalen Smith for Sochan match salary too. Not a bad trade target.

No thanks on the Yabu from the Knicks.

He's at 38% on 7.7 attempts on a team with terrible spacing and no point guards.

Bulls: Jalen Smith is the obvious 1:1 swap.
Suns: No clue, noone really fits. Maybe we take Nick Richards as the third string big?
Hornets: Conaughton is washed, McNeely lost his role, maybe him? I don't think they're giving up on him already. Grant Williams if he can get back into shape.
Knicks: I don't want Yabusele, they have noone else.
Lakers: Fuck them, the only thing I'd consider is Olynyk and Sochan for Hachimura.

Knecht can't even earn minutes on a roster with shit depth alongside Luka/Bron. He's also way older than your average 2nd year player. We'd need at least 3 2nd rounders to take him off the Lakers hands, no way I'm giving up shit for him tbh.

This is a good point. From what I can remember, he was playing well up to then.

I remember the same thing with Brent Barry. He wasn't too happy when he came back after the failed JR Smith trade (he did try hard, so he didn't let it affect him on the court too much), but I think he wanted to leave as soon as he could, which sucked as I really liked him.

He's playing on a team that needs defenders, here he'd be on a team that needs shooters.
