I would just like to challenge this premise.
The Spurs have made a trade at or ahead of the deadline every year since 2020-21, and a trade "of significance" (meaning a rotation player coming in or leaving) every year from 2021-22. I'd say the least significant of these moves is when we sent out McBuckets in 2024. But every other year was pretty significant:
2022 - sent out Derrick White
2023 - sent out Jakob
2024 - sent out Dougie
2025 - acquired Fox
