Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Shams just reported, that Butler is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Warriors are currently only 8th in the West and they are facing a massive tax bill (80+ million), they will likely dump the season at this point.

moving Kuminga seems a logical choice, but they might look for more moves. Horford would still be a useful piece for a contender, wouldn't he?

what about this: Sochan to the Nets, Horford to the Spurs, a symbolic protected 2nd rounder to the Warriors.
I kinda think Horford is kinda washed, but he'd be ok as a 3rd Center in guess. Moody is the player we'd want off of that team.

Jimmy Butler went out with a knee injury and Kuminga still can’t get off the bench. They must have him a trade package already.
Someone said there are a whole bunch of trades hanging on the Giannis situation. ATL has been holding out Tingus and Risacher.

As bad as the Butler situation is, I doubt they tear the team down until Curry is gone.

Yeah, I agree 100%. They won't do that to Curry. After all that Curry has done for their franchise, I don't think they do that to him. I wonder, though, if Curry himself would consider a trade so they can start over? That would be the only way IMO.

Was it Brian Windhorst that said that about the trades being held up? Could it come down to the last day of the deadline with a flurry of trades all happening then?

At what point will teams pull the trigger on held off trades if the Giannis situation isn't resolved? Will they wait until the last day? That would make it hard for everyone to try and consummate trades at the last minute/last hours of the trade deadline.

This. Moody is someone that the Spurs should target. The Warriors are intent on trading off Kuminga.. which is a sure bet because if they ask him to play again he will sit out with lower back soreness again.. The Kangs seem to be interested. By trading off Buddy Hield.. they can get below the tax line if they manage the Kuminga trade. But if that doesn't happen and the Kangs try to lowball them (which they should).. the low hanging fruit is to trade Moody for picks and expirings.

Interesting proposal is GSW trading Butler to PHI for PG13.

It saves Philly an extra year of PG13's max salary at the expense of having to pay Butler to rehab and (possibly) eventually retire.

It gives GSW another swing at the false hope they've been trying to nail.

I don't think Morey would be willing to swallow his pride and throw away more seasons, even though they can't really compete this year.

If he was smart, he'd trade Embiid for Butler because Embiid has an extra year on top, which Warriors wouldn't care about since Curry won't play for 4 more years.

Do it Warriors.
Playoff Pee always delivers.

I would do it if I am those teams. Phila is now Maxey`s team

Moody is a nice player but I don’t see where his minutes would come from.

Another interesting concept I've seen picking up steam is AD for Jimmy in various forms.

Jimmy, Kuminga and Richard for AD, Klay and Hardy is one being talked about... but AD for Jimmy and a distant first also makes sense. DAL is supposedly interested in Kuminga though (for reasons unknown).

I like the 3 in 3 out version of this. I love these kinds of trades that could make both teams worse. Klay/Steph reunion is a feel good moment for about a week. Conceivably makes PJ Washington a target this summer. That's the real reason I love this idea.

In the heat of the moment I'd say trade for Giannis, but what would be the point with Mitch in charge?

Trade Wemby for Reed Sheppard
Reed not only shot the ball really well, he also had a steal and blocked one of Champagnie's three-point attempts, while Wemby registered neither a steal nor a block - so it's a legit proposal!

The media is trying to drum up hype for clicks the Spurs are not trading for gannis . People need to realize the most likely trade type will be around the margins they are going to keep castle, fox, Harper and wemby it gives you a longer window to compete for championships

Spurs plan changed when they got the number 2 pick.

You really think they are going after a gannis please they are going to upgrade around the edges before the dead line at most before the trade deadline. Any big change would be in the off-season they are not going to mess with core young guys I mentioned above because they are ahead of schedule

Lets take what we know
1. Other than the Fox trade, the spurs don't do all that much around the the trade deadline. I'm not holding my breath.
2. Like someone said earlier, once we drafted Harper, and we gave Fox that huge extension; the interest in Giannis has faded a bit. Plus he's really expensive.
3. Going way over the cap is scaring lots of teams, so we may not see a lot of trading at all. So far its been a slow trade season but next week and the week after, who knows.

What we may see
1. The spurs trading an expiring contract or two for picks or a minimum player - nothing earth shattering. Sochan, Olynyk, or one of the minimum guys are my best guess. These guy are probably gone next year anyway so lets get something for them if we can. The core 8 - 11 are most likely safe for now.
2. The spurs are doing well right now. We can hang with the best but there's always room for improvement - so probably any big changes will happen in the summer.
3. We still have the Atlanta pick Some team may want/need it more than us, so if a really good deal pops up, the spurs may take advantage of it, otherwise we see where it lands in June.
