Im sure it's been mentioned already but Sochan/Olynyk/Hawks '27 works for Myles Turner tbh.

Bucks are heading towards a blow up and get to move off of Turner's money while getting a reclamation project in Jeremy plus another first that might have some added value in a Giannis/Hawks swap.

Wemby/Turner/Luke is a great big rotation tbh.

I hate it. Going into the aprons to either move Wemby out of the position he plays best at or to pay through the nose for a backup center is suicide.

He can shoot and is a big body you could throw out there as 3C or depth at 4 and do pretty well. I’m not sure why folks would be eager to shit on the guy. He would be a good depth piece for a team that just needs a warm bodied big.

Turner would be de facto starting C, Luke remains backup.

And yes, Wemby's best position defensively is obviously C. But until he shows that he can handle half a season of banging down low or have a go to move against the likes of Caruso that isn't a fade away J, I'm not sure if C is his best position offensively. Wemby/Turner would be basically a souped up version of Chat/IHart.

Keeping going back to John Collins. He's a buy low rental who having a bad season on a bad team. His price can't be much higher than Sochan and KO plus two future second picks. He's not cost prohibitive and he can play the 4 next to Wemby and Kornet while being the small ball 5 with HB if needed. Perfect fit on the court without being too costly.

At the very least they can move Kelly/Sochan and roll over the expiring for a year. Gotta use those expirings somehow.

Hunter is due 24 million next year, the Cavs getting expirings for him would go a long way towards solving their tax and apron situation if they get desperate around the deadline. Hunter himself is having a subpar season but he shoots 36.7% from three for his career and 39.6% his previous two seasons combined. Adding a first to Sochan/Olynyk is too much to pay and a couple seconds might not be enough for Cleveland. Also leaves a big hole at the 4, Hunter is at best a 50/50 3/4, not close to a full-time 4.

Regarding the whole third string center thing:

Spurs points differential per 100 possessions depending on who is the center (I'm leaving out 2 centers lineups):
Wembanyama (397 minutes): +13.34
Kornet (402 minutes): +5.63
Olynyk (143 minutes): +16.69
Sochan (138 minutes): -4.67
Biyombo (61 minutes): -22.45

So:
- Spurs are doing surprisingly well with Olynyk at center given that he mostly hasn't looked good. His personals stats are also fine with a PER of 14.9. Is it a fluke or is Olynyk the kind of vet who can positively impact a game just by knowing how to play?
- Biyombo is a disaster. There are no on the court reasons to keep him past the January 10th guaranteed deadline.
- At nobody's surprise, Sochan at center still don't work.

as the leader of the John Collins fan club, I'm not sure about his fit with our current play style. First of all, he should never ever play smallball 5. It hasn't worked on the Hawks nor the Jazz. It's terrible.

He'd certainly be an upgrade for Sochan, which is why I wouldn't mind making that trade. With that being said he's not exactly a switchable perimeter defender. He can basically just guard 4s, so defensively he's not really what we are looking for when it comes to improving our perimeter D.

His strength is rebounding, rolling to the rim, setting screens and lob plays which should all mesh well with our guards. It's just that with Wemby trying to play inside, those things will be a lot less valuable than last season for example. His 3P% is down, although I'm not worried about it since he plays on a bad Clippers team and has a long history of good shooting numbers.

ive been a JoCo proponent for a while. we'd have to match his 26.6 mil salary (he's expiring, so that helps)... and i dont know what part of your team you'd send out now. i think we are past the point of vassell just being a pure salary dump even though their salaries match quite well

however, we could get their by pairing KO with Sochan. per Spotrac, the following trade works:

Olynyk and Sochan for John Collins... and Chris Paul (if we want him. he still hasn't been waived)

as a side note, we have 3 SRPs this year, and lord knows we arent going to draft 3 players in the second round. id rather make use of them now than wait until draft week and get cash considerations

Cleveland cannot take back multiple players for one. That’s one of the penalties of the second apron. Bill Simmons latest drop illustrates their total lack of ability to make a trade. He said there should just be a team meeting, and they should tell the players that this is the team, and if they want things to be better, they need to make it happen.

I thought it was the other way around, that second apron teams can't aggregate salaries together in a trade, so Cleveland couldn't package 2 or more players to land 1 player who makes as much as the others combined. I didn't think they were restricted from doing the opposite.

clippers are a wreck this year but they're still much better with him on the court than without

and it was the same story with the jazz last year. they were bad regardless, but much worse with him off the floor

ive been a collins stan for a while so im probably not the most objective on this. i just think from a player/skill profile, he checks a lot of boxes. whether it would work out in practice... who knows

I see Collins as a low risk acquisition assuming it's Sochan and KO going back. We get his expiring and see if and how he meshes with the team. If he works out we sign him to a 4/60 team option on year 4. If he doesn't mesh, he doesn't return to the team. Sochan is going to be gone one way or another. JC is 28 and has never been a bad actor anywhere he's been. He's not a volume guy and doesnt have an injury history. We wouldn't be breaking the bank for the guy nor taking on a bad contract. But he's a 4 and getting rid of KO means we have to find another backup 5 somewhere.

I think he's similar to Devin and Keldon, where if you slot him into the right role on a functioning roster he's a high level role player. It's just that he's been on bad teams. The Hawks made a post season run, but him playing with Trae doesn't really give you the right picture defensively either. Spurs playstyle would fit him much better than that slowass Clippers roster.

Would love to swap Sochan with Bilal. He also needs to learn how to shoot, but at least he's attempting 3.5 long range shots per game.

My top trade targets if the spurs really want to make a move at the trade deadline. Wouldn't cost spurs much to acquire.

Sam Hauser from the Celtics
He is having a slight down year compared to last season but he would bring some much needed value on offense and defense off the bench.
John Collins from the Clippers
Expiring contract. Would fit well as a pick and roll guy, his 3pt shooting has been lower than previous seasons but can still hit them, his defense isn't going to scream huge impact but he is still an average defender and would provide some size at the position.
Kevin Love from the Jazz
Replaces Olynyk and Biyombo as 3rd Big. Still has a little left in the tank.

Overall these three would provide depth and value and wouldn't offset the rotations could gel well with starting and bench units

No matter what you think of Jollins, it might be time to acknowledge that the Spurs have had so many opportunities to acquire him over the years that since it hasn’t happened by now we should assume the FO simply doesn’t like him

I wonder if there is any world in which we could get Dean Wade this year - I think (?) that would also give us Bird Rights to resign him this summer and leave our MLE for other business

We have Devin/Champ/Keldon/Barnes in the rotation and they're not going away.
No need to waste assets if it's not a legit PF. Whether by size or style of play, mostly on the boards.

Harper is too good already and hasn't broken the 30 minutes mark once. Just give him those extra minutes if needed.
That's already a 7 man rotation for 4 perimeter position, with Wemby/Kornet combo also being an option.

The only players I'd look at are PF/C hybrids to upgrade on Olynyk/Sochan or reclamation projects we can develop long term, like we did with Champ.
And there aren't any suitable PF/C targets, at least that I'm aware of, went through all the rosters a couple of times.

To your point about Champ… he, Mamu and Bassey were all two-way finds and all over performed for guys who started as two-ways… so hopefully we can find some magic there once we finally give up on Harrison Ingram
