Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

See the rumour the pels will listen to offers for Murphy and Jones. Murphy is an ideal piece, a clear upgrade from vassel.

I think Hachimura would be a good fit, he's a free agent next summer.
His rebounding is subpar for his size, but he's shooting 42% from 3pt in his 3 seasons with the Lakers. 47% this season.
He's basically their Barnes.
I think Rui is a great target next summer.

How much more would Spurs need to add to this to shake Murphy loose:

Sochan + Olynyk (salaries match)
2027 FRP from Atlanta
2026 SRP from New Orleans
2028 SRP from New Orleans
2029 SRP from New Orleans
2030 SRP from Sacramento

And, if we are sending out the 2027 Atlanta pick, is there also a way to send out the 2026 swap right?

I'd guess a couple more 1st's

If we're going for Murphy, there's no point in keeping Devin unless you think they can start together.
If they don't, we can't be paying a bench player $27M a year.

Murphy is obviously an upgrade, but is he a 3 FRP worthy upgrade?

This is where the compare/contrast of a potential Giannis trade helps. There is no way Murphy commands 3FRPs right now.

I see Murphy upgrading the HB position in the SL, so i guess that means he and Dev would start together along with Fox, Castle, Wemby.

If you keep Devin you're looking as a Castle/ Harper 2nd unit back court.

Edited to say: Castle would be great next to Murphy, but I just don't see Mitch moving Devin to the bench. Which is why moving Devin makes the most sense, but in this hypothetical I think Castle comes off the bench.

Castle isn't getting benched because his shooting struggles easier to compensate than the defensive drop off we have without him.

I agree that's what should happen, I just don't see Mitch doing that..

If we're going to stay within the likeliness of what Spurs will be doing, then all of this is pointless because we're not using multiple FRPs on Murphy. :st-lol:
Fair, but I think the Atlanta picks aren’t as juicy as that team improves, and just imagine if they land Peterson this draft.

I think the Spurs are probably most inclined to move those picks above the most distant ones.

Yeah, I don't think the spurs will blow their load on Murphy. I see it more like Devin and Sochan with Alt 27 pick for Murphy type of thing. Rather than salary dumping and multiple picks. That deal is for a real game changer in the future.

Also to add, I do think spurs big target is Anthony Edwards, and they are watching that space closely. Twolves are such a swing team for the league over the next two seasons. They either going to go all in on a pg, throwing future assets at it, or they'll sell Anthony Edwards.

Nah, we have our high paid guard already, and he’s a better fit as a better creator.

Ant is a bit of a dumbass, and seemed more interested in showboating than winning the ASG. I don’t think Victor was amused. Not sure he’d want Ant. Wasn’t he the one crying last season because he was being double teamed a lot?

I'd call Dumars and offer something like this (add a pick or two):
fanspo-nba-trade-machine-snap-h-6-12-2025-22-13-56.jpg

They take the gamble on the value of Vassell and Keldon trending up and the youth of Sochan, Spurs revamp their wings with defense and shooting and take a look at Hawkins to see if playing alongside real threats in the paint unlocks his shooting potential. Looney is not doing well but is expiring (non guaranteed next year) and a better third string option than Biyombo anyway. Make the call, you never know how Dumars would react, maybe he likes some of our guys and demands aren't outrageous, he took on Poole and gave away next draft's pick unprotected so I wouldn't make assumptions about his expectations.

PS: proposal needs to wait until Jan 14, that's why it shows failed, otherwise salaries match.

As an early Murphy truther, I obviously think TM3 is a significantly better player than Big Game Dev, but I think we're lucky in that Devin's play this year (spurred on by being demoted to a role better suited to his level of competence, to use Kirk Goldsberry's phrase) and combined with the lack of a leap from Murphy (his stats are pretty much identical to last year's other than his REB% is up a nice bit but his USG% has taken a tick down) has perhaps narrowed the gap in their perceived value.

I don't he is a 3 FRP worthy upgrade... but it might not take 3 FRP at this point. I may be overly ambitious here... but I think there is an outside shot one FRP could do in a swap.

I feel Devin has upped his trade value quite a bit so far this season. Averaging 16-4-2.5 with 1.5 stocks and shooting 44-40-86 splits. Advanced numbers are all very good. While showing he can play a role on a winning team.

You could probably get Murphy for Vassell + FRP + couple of SRPs. The FRP might be the 2027 Hawks pick or 2029 Spurs. Salaries are almost identical, Pels would need to throw in a small filler like Hawkins who they have pretty much given up on.

They could want to take a flyer on Sochan in that case you throw him in and take back Saddiq Bey and Hawkins.

Getting Matkovic would be nice but I think the Pels still view him as a positive asset so less willing to part with him.

Would be great to get Herb too but that complicates things due to contract and injury history and diminishing performances the last couple of years.

I think 1 with Devin is about right. I do wonder if they might just prefer expirings? I'm not sure how that would effect the picks.

Agree 100% and I'll also add that his play as the #2 to Fox while Wemby and Castle have been out may also give a team who isn't going to compete anytime soon the belief that he's underutilized in San Antonio and he stats this year might even understate his potential.

Which honestly... is all probably true! Dev has been very good in his role this year and I think he'll continue to be! And I think he can be a #2 on a non-playoff team (he's already proven this). I'm saying this, and I'm one of the OG Dev Haters!
