Giannis trade guide: Five Bucks deals to alter the NBA title race
Giannis paired with Steph Curry? Kevin Durant? Victor Wembanyama?! NBA insiders break down five deals the Bucks could consider.www.espn.com
The Spurs. Wiggins isn't any upgrade over Vassell and Rollins is redundant with Fox, Harper, Castle and McLaughlin.Bucks- Devin + Sochan + Rozier + heat 29 +31 1sts
Spurs- Wiggins + Rollins
Heat- Giannis
Who says no?
Agree. Spurs need another big (at least 7 footer). Edey will be a problem for a long time.Should have drafted him instead of signing Biyombo
Wiggins contract comes off sooner and he's more of a 3 than Vassell. Rollins brings one thing the others you listed don't and that's 3 point shooting, which we desperately need. The Spurs. Wiggins isn't any upgrade over Vassell and Rollins is redundant with Fox, Harper, Castle and McLaughlin.
Where? Because they are limited to whatever team Giannis chooses. They are working the field and pitting offers against each other.Surly the Bucks can get more than Castle, spare parts and pretty average future firsts.
Much like Lillard wanted to go to Miami.Where? Because they are limited to whatever team Giannis chooses. They are working the field and pitting offers against each other.
The difference is that its being reported that Milwaukee is only going to trade him to the team he wants to go to... hurting themselves to build some sort of good will I guess..Much like Lillard wanted to go to Miami.
Maybe tbey shpyld but there's two things working against it... 1) For some reason they'd rather look like a victim than the strong man for some unknown reason and 2) No team is giving their best offer for a top 5 player who's going to be disgruntled day 1.It's great if Milwaukee wants to do right by Giannis, but there is zero incentive to do so, especially if you're weighing do right by Giannis vs do right by your fans. Milwaukee needs to take care of themselves first. Giannis might not like it, but the alternative is to remain in Milwaukee.
Both sides have leverage, which I think is good in that it should prompt a fair deal for both/all sides.Maybe tbey shpyld but there's two things working against it... 1) For some reason they'd rather look like a victim than the strong man for some unknown reason and 2) No team is giving their best offer for a top 5 player who's going to be disgruntled day 1.
Yep Wiggins is shorter contract is a true 3 and can shoot from outside and seems to be a good locker room guy he also has championship play experience. He was one of the reasons the warriors ringed that year in the playoffsWiggins contract comes off sooner and he's more of a 3 than Vassell. Rollins brings one thing the others you listed don't and that's 3 point shooting, which we desperately need.
Young has a player option for next season. As a tanking Bucks team I wouldn't care of he opted out this summer. Bucks have plenty of cap space in that scenario and can starting renting it out for assets. Its hard to un-see that NOLA 26FRP if you are the Bucks. I bet that's the biggest prize for them.
ESPN/others are overstating Trae Young's value. Don't think the Bucks (or most NBA teams) want anything to do with his extension talks/expectations. You can argue a package of expirings has more value to MIL than Young at this point.
Feels like Milwaukee should ask for Jalen Johnson, but accept Trae Young - plus draft picks, obvs.Young has a player option for next season. As a tanking Bucks team I wouldn't care of he opted out this summer. Bucks have plenty of cap space in that scenario and can starting renting it out for assets.
If I am the Hawks the Bucks can choose between Jalen Johnson or the 2026 Pels picks but not both.
Bucks very emphaticallyBucks- Devin + Sochan + Rozier + heat 29 +31 1sts
Spurs- Wiggins + Rollins
Heat- Giannis
Who says no?
Yea.. I don't think Milwaukee has much leverage at all, but we'll see..Both sides have leverage, which I think is good in that it should prompt a fair deal for both/all sides.
Rozier isnt a player, he's just an expiring. I think the Bucks will value Sochan and Devin from a PR perspective (and maybe Devin as on-court value).Bucks very emphatically
Spurs are landing Wiggins and Rollins without giving up a pick?
Bucks don’t want Sochan. Rozier is facing a federal indictment. So it’s Giannis and Rollins for Vassell and 2 distant picks? Cmon lol
you are basically getting Giannis for the same price as Fox, who was not acquired at market value eitherRozier isnt a player, he's just an expiring. I think the Bucks will value Sochan and Devin from a PR perspective (and maybe Devin as on-court value).
At the end of the day though I'm basing my opinion on the prerequisite that Giannis will pick one team and that's all Milwaukee will have to negotiate with, so by definition, they are getting a crap deal. I just don't see Miami offering more and if thats who Giannis chooses it's what they'll have to take.
Was thinking about this and the Bucks may like the idea of getting Trae (and having him opt in) if they can then flip him for a little more next year. Jalen Johnson of course would be even better (and provide the flexibility to keep or flip) but surely ATL wants to keep JJ and they'd have to then add in another piece like Tingus who they'd want to keep. Trae helps them match salary a lot easier.Young has a player option for next season. As a tanking Bucks team I wouldn't care of he opted out this summer. Bucks have plenty of cap space in that scenario and can starting renting it out for assets.
If I am the Hawks the Bucks can choose between Jalen Johnson or the 2026 Pels picks but not both.
It may not be, but would Milwaukee rather deal straight with Miami and just take wiggins? That's certainly possible..you are basically getting Giannis for the same price as Fox, who was not acquired at market value either
and then Bucks also give away Ryan Rollins? a resetting team isn't also going to trade away their best young player
no offense but i dont think the proposal is remotely close
