I can get the skepticism on Walker, but saying "Nesmith only has two seasons where he shot even remotely good" is wild.

He's a career .384 3P shooter, who's only had one bad season shooting (his sophomore year) who also shot 52% (!!!) on 8.2 3PA/gm his sophomore year in college.

Dude is a sniper.

I wish I could just take a quick screenshot to make this easier but his FG% isn’t great overall. That’s really what I was referring to. If not for those two seasons he’d be pretty bad overall.

I would not hate a straight across trade for Vassell but I don’t think I’d attach a 1st. Unless it was the offseason and we know the pick is later in the 1st. I’d make the trade for any combination of 2nds and maybe a filler.

I think he’s not much different than Devin from a streaky standpoint and I think he’d quickly be the next Spurs scapegoat for players they bitch about.

His FG% is brought down by his high 3PAr. His TS% the last two years has been significantly higher than league average for SFs (which is around 58%), and his 1st and 3rd seasons he was just a hair under league average. His second season was bad (which is what led to BOS giving up on him) and he's had a rough start to this year on an atrocious IND team.

we just need a real 7 footer as our 3rd big who can block shots, rebound and set screens. The main problem is that we always play guys who are 6'8'' at center as soon as one of Wemby or Kornet is out.

When I compared him to Olynyk and Mamu, I was referring to him being too slow.
I'm not sure any advanced stats can be taken seriously for a player who's averaging career high 15mpg on a team with the worst record in the league.

Obviously everyone would be an upgrade over Biyombo, but I'm not sure Huff would be enough of an upgrade.

For the 15 minutes a game we'd acquiring someone to play (temporarily), the difference between Bismack and Huff is significant.

I'm in full doomer mode and don't expect Wemby to stay healthy.
And since those Wemby/Kornet lineups have be somewhat successful, we might expand on it.

Yeah, if Wemby isn't going to be reliable, it's easy to be tempted by some of those other options... but I'd suggest if we're going to go full doomer, we should probably blow it up and go full rebuild around Castle and Dylan... which would fuuuuuuuuuucking suuuuuuuuuuuck.

We'll never even think of trading Wemby, it's just that if we're to compete we must have a competent roster even without him due to his health concerns.
I'd say when it comes to injuries having a C as a franchise player is by far the worst option because the team just can't function without a competent rim protector, but having competent third string C is near impossible unless we manage to draft one in the second round.
Guards and wings can be covered for much easier.

I don't even mean trading Wemby... just selling off everything else and making Castle/Harper the main focus of rebuilding, and you get what you can from Wemby. If he shows up and plays 82 games, great... if not, then you are just sticking with your plan.

I thought if anything happens with Vic, we can just build around Cooper and Steph. I didn't know nothing about Dylan at the time due to not expecting a top 3 pick (I only followed Cooper Flagg. I was thinking going into the draft, maybe he we lucky and get the 4th pick, so I never look at any of the other top 3-5 players), but from what I've seen so far, he does have franchise potential which is great. I've been real happy with what I've seen of him play on the court up until his injury. The only issue is, what I've also seen so far this season, his durability hasn't looked great up to now.

I have a nagging feeling you’re not the only one who wanted a number 1 instead of 2 pick. Could be wrong though.

If it wasn't for that, I wouldn't have felt so deflated missing out on the number 1 pick after coming that close. If you or anyone else could have told me at the time that Vic will be OK going forward and have TD like durability, I would have been happy with any pick.

Even before the draft, I would have been ecstatic with any top 4 pick, but during the draft, the closer it got to the top 2-3, that was one thing that was going through my mind. I didn't want to say it or think it, but I was a bit worried about Victor's health going forward and then I started thinking/dreaming if we somehow snagged Cooper, we can build around him and Steph instead if anything bad happened.

You know what’s even worse? We missed #1 by one ping pong ball…with Atlanta’s pick. We were an eyelash away from #1 and #2.

Ultimately we (as in the spurs org, not like us as fans) have no choice or knowledge of how Wembys health and career will turn out. What we can do though is make the best decision of what we can control given the knowledge we have at the time.

Selecting Harper was a pretty simple choice. Getting the #2 pick was insane luck, so there isn’t any doom and gloom going on. Getting #4 last year and having castle still on board was tremendous luck as well. Next step is for the org to focus on getting well fitting parts with later picks in the draft and free agent signings, assuming we know what we want to do now.

The wemby offence is a bit all over the place, and the coaching staff has to nail down a clear strategy because without it there is nothing to build around.

To be honest, I'm not sure Cooper is any more of a "build your franchise around this guy" than Dylan is. To me Flagg seems like a really solid, high-floor Robin type to pair with Wemby... but if I need a guy who can also be Batman, I'll take Dylan (the same I think Cade is this type of guy).

But... I'm optimistic that this actually isn't that big of a deal with Wemby and there is no need to be in Doomer mode.

I don’t think this current injury speaks to a lack of durability for Wemby. This seems like the new normal for anything calf and hamstring related.

I bet Wemby can go no problem and probably feels ready to play.

I think we’re seeing the peek of teams operating with an abundance of caution. Especially with franchise players.

10 years ago Vic plays and probably nothing comes of it.

I know some are vehemently against trading for DDR, but he's essentially an expiring with only 10 million guaranteed next year. Add 2nd rounders as needed. Come the fuck on Brian, start dialing.
