Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Here's another one in Scott's Fantasy World of Trading for the Guys He Likes (Jay Huff isn't my guy... but he'd be a nice 3rd C!) Picks would have to be going IND's way of course.

Why do the teams do this? IND probably doesn't do this, since they aren't in a true rebuild, they're just in the "Spurs get Duncan" type rebuild where they're going to end up with Peterson to line up next to Hali, god damnit.

MIL does this because Kuzma is terrible and MIL is actually the one team that I think Vassell would actually fit quite nicely.

I'm not sure Jarace Walker is the player we think he is.

I guess if we stick him into that right corner it might work. :st-lol:

Meh, show me last year’s chart. Small sample size (in terms of relative to an entire season) on a 1-12 team. I’m not gonna read too much into it.

This trade will disappoint, but think something like this could help both teams:

CHI: Vassell
SAS: Huerter; Smith

Maybe Chicago offers some second tier draft compensation but not the priority.

Pacers fans have lost faith in him, apparently he looks completely lost out there.
Probably one of those players that only looks good in a minor role on a competent team.

Some guys need that top flight PG to spoon feed them, and look lost without that.

Spurs need any trade before the deadline which is addition by subtraction. That's the sort of moves which need to be made this year. Championship is out of the question. Subtle, not championship changing for this year. Vassell, Johnson, Sochan, Barnes, fillers, picks?

Surely maybe 2 or 3 of those assets could be consolidated for a better guy?

Victor with all of his many many flaws as a basketball centrepiece doesn't strike me as the most patient man in the league

A minor role is all I'm looking for! Basically just looking to upgrade Sochan minutes. I'd happily take a flyer on Walker. If it doesn't work out, you just let him walk in the summer of 27.

Coaching and everyone buying in.
They keep winning without their entire starting lineup.

He was scott's favorite fringe rotation player last season.
Nah, Nesmith is the guy from IND that I've wanted for awhile. Walker is just a flyer upgrade over Sochan. @mo7888 has been big on Jarace though.

My favorite fringe rotation player... hmmm, that's a tough one. Will have to think about it. I tend to like more of the budding 20mpg guys. The Nesmith (before he blew up), Dean Wade, Ty Jerome, types.

Harper
Castle
Champ
Bam Adebayo
Wemby

Is pretty damn appealing to me

Can't see the Heat trading Adebayo. It'd probably be expiring's, young players not named Ware and picks.

I've mentioned a three team trade before, where that goes to the Jazz and the Spurs receive Markkanen.

The Spurs need to look to what is making the Pistons successful right now, IMO.

Playing in the East and having clutch time luck?

The Bucks already made that mistake with Lillard, who at least in theory was supposed to be more impactful than Fox. I can't see them doing that again, especially with Ryan Rollins playing so well and having a contract that pays him $4mil/year through 2028.

Like I said, they don't have the goods but because they need an offensive engine, I could see them inquiring.

Wished we traded for Cade when the Pistons had their fire sale. But it is what is is
My wet dream was offering all our picks for Cade when he was losing his mind during that record setting losing streak.

I thought Pop and Monte had big brained it all tbh.

Yep, Bam is not the guy they'd be trading. I'm pretty sure Bam and Fox are friends, so I doubt either one would want to be traded for one another, they'd want to play on the same team and the Heat would want both on them on the team.

Keon Ellis is set to become an unrestricted free agent as seasons end. 26 year old 3&D maven shooting over 40% from three for his career. Spurs should make a run at him this summer. Perfect fit.

I like Keon, but I keep seeing him referred to as a 3&D... but he's a 3&D combo guard, which I'm not sure we'll have regular minutes for anytime soon.

Kangz really screwed things up by not declining his option and forcing him into RFA last summer... now instead he'll be a UFA. They're also screwing it up by playing him inconsistent minutes ensuring he won't want to be there.

But that team is currently Siakim, Nesmith, Walker and a whole bunch of literal g-league guys, all 3 have had huge FG%/3% drop yr/yr. eFG% from .572 to .500, .617 to .473, and .576 to .354.

Very hard to get good looks like without legit NBA/rotation teammates. He came into the yr above 40% from 3 over 108 games, taking more than 1/2 his shots from 3.
I'm in no rush to trade picks (except maybe the '27 Atl-looks to be losing value be the day), but I'd love to turn Devin into Nesmith and Jeremy into Walker.

Another fan site is proposing trading for one of Scott's guys by sacrificing part of the friendship crew.

Sochan, KJ, Atlanta 2027 and Spurs 2029 as a starting point for Trey Murphy III.

I'm generally out on TMIII at this point (for reason's I've stated elsewhere that aren't related to who TMIII is as a player), but if we did get him we'd basically be saying we're going to make a run for a title in the next 3 years, because after that you probably are going to have to ship off both Fox and Dev (but at least one of them for sure)

I don’t fully get the allure. I get Nesmith being eye candy but he’s often injured and only has two season where he shot even remotely good. The eye test says you’re getting more than Vassell and I know everyone here is desperate to trade him but I’m not seeing much more than a lateral move or slight improvement but not anything worth attaching a 1st to.

Walker makes no sense. I get the Jeremy hate but Walker is a borderline full blown bust. He’s shooting 29% and 27%.

If we move players it needs to be for a significant upgrade. The shuffling of players for marginal improvements is a fast track to diluting your depth.

I can get the skepticism on Walker, but saying "Nesmith only has two seasons where he shot even remotely good" is wild.

He's a career .384 3P shooter, who's only had one bad season shooting (his sophomore year) who also shot 52% (!!!) on 8.2 3PA/gm his sophomore year in college.

Dude is a sniper.

I'm higher on Walker than most here, but at this point I'd see if Sochan's improved form holds up and look at Walker over the summer.
