Trade Spurs Trade Ideas

Knicks traded away their '27, '28 swap, '29 and '31 FRPs for Bridges.
They can't get Giannis unless Bucks roll over and gift it to them for either KAT straight up or OG+Hart or OG+Yabusele+McBride.
It would necessitate a 3rd or 4th team that could add picks to make it tolerable for Milwaukee

I think this is an interesting angle... for years, the Spurs have always been used as that stalking horse team that might come in, which maintains a floor for value in trades.

But the Spurs neither have the assets, the cap space, or the desire to be part of big trades anymore, so they are out.

So who are the leverage teams now? UTA and ATL come to mind. OKC has the assets but don't have any realistic ability to pay anyone, nor should they want to change anything they're already doing.
I think we clearly have the assets. We could go to the Bucks with Harper and Castle and tell them here is your future all star back court + salary filler + 1st round picks to build around your future all star back court.

Would be hilariously dumb but we could do it. I don't know of a team who can do better than two guards with star potential who are 3 and 4 years a way from their paydays.

So it begins...for what it's worth, he also tweeted right after that the Hawks are viewed as a dark-horse contender.

I think there's little to no chance the Spurs move Fox after he just did them a solid. Also don't see them moving Harper or Castle...so I think this is just BS/leverage talk personally.

I don't see it from either side. I don't think Antetokounmpo would want to be on a team with a player who is soon to better than him or that Wembanyama/Spurs would want him playing floor spacer for another player.

I think Antetokounmpo will want to remain in the East, with a team like Hawks or Knicks, who are good and helmed by near elite lead guards.

I've been one of the biggest star hunters around since the Wemby's rookie season trade deadline but no Giannis. Love the Wemby/Fox/Harper/Castle core too much.

The Bucks would want one of Harper/Castle plus a boatload picks.

A Fox for Giannis deal wouldn't make sense for either side.

Have always kind of felt Giannis would be a good Raptor. Canada seems like a good place for an international superstar.
Masai was obsessed with him, but he's gone now, so who knows.

If we assume we aren't directly in the Giannis sweepstakes, then who out there that is needs a 1st or two that we could throw in with salary ballast to get a player that we like and fits? Any thought?

The only players im trading a haul for ie castle harper, or Fox + castle/harper are Luka and Jokic.

Giannis is accountable for 25% or so of the bucks offense. At least that’s what my happy hour imaginary stat sheet says.

Without looking at anything and just firing away I think that his presence would destroy the foundation of team basketball that we are finally starting to see.

I don’t want him.

If that ends up a top 3 pick, wouldn't Atlanta rather/want to keep that pick? And if it's number 1, I doubt they'd even want to trade if for Giannis.
Yeah if that pick hits top 3 they're not moving it even for Giannis in this draft. If Milwaukee wants that pick they have to do the trade before the deadline where it only has a 40% shot of being top 3 (assuming NOP continues in their fail of a season).

You wouldnt take Giannis over Peterson/Dybantsa/Boozer? Or is it because #1 pick + other players? Because I would take Giannis over a #1 pick.

Just like I wouldve traded our #2 pick last offseason. (Which is why I wouldnt be a GM).

Spurs aren't gonna fuck Swipa over and also ruin their reputation over it, and I don't see them trading Harper on a cost controlled contract. And Castle wouldn't be nearly enough for Milwaukee to pull the trigger. This is way too good a young core to break up to try to win now. Only way you could have convinced me to make a move like this was if Wemby was playing the whole season like he did that first game in Dallas. Then maybe I'd say strike while the iron is hot. But instead I think I'd rather keep this team to grow together and maybe you re-evaluate in a year or two when Victor is in his prime.

Brian Wright's comfort zone. I'm fully expecting us to land an unprotected pick swap and a rotation PF basically for free somehow
:st-lol:

I see Castle and Harper as our insurance policies to Wemby’s health. Harper looks like he can be a top 10 player in the league and Castle looks like a fringe top 30 player already.

All three of them look to be Cooper Flagg level prospects right now. Peterson or Dybantsa I'd for sure not trade for Giannis. Boozer would be a tough call. It's hard to underestimate how important high end players on cost controlled contracts are under this CBA and Peterson and Dybansta both scream franchise player.

I don't think Spurs are interested in Giannis nor is Giannis interested in the Spurs at this juncture. If Giannis wants to compete for rings asap then he has to stay opposite of the OKC side of the bracket. Feels like NY is in the driver's seat with Miami and Toronto keeping tabs.

I don't think we can trade Fox currently since he just signed an extension

Ok so looks like Giannis will be traded to whichever team he decides to go to
And we know he wanted the Knicks. Could we be one of the teams that would facilitate the trade and grab OG Anunoby? What would you be willing to give for him?
I wouldn't mind Bobby Portis tbh. Not sure if the Spurs would be interested. Makes the same money as Olynyk, but definitely the better player at this point.

I AI'd that and it was a little confusing, but the gist was tgat he's eligible to be traded now, but can't be aggregated until Feb 5th.

Sochan for Giannis.

If he can be had for the minimum, why not?

Do it, RC!

Etc….

Not a bad trade idea. Both are all offense no defense big men but Portis is clearly the better player and the Bucks would love Olynyk's expiring.

This makes me wonder how bad of a deal Milwaukee may be forced to take? If its just a 1 team negotiation Milwaukee me get nuked as bad as Ole Miss in the Lane Kiffin deal.
