I think we clearly have the assets. We could go to the Bucks with Harper and Castle and tell them here is your future all star back court + salary filler + 1st round picks to build around your future all star back court.I think this is an interesting angle... for years, the Spurs have always been used as that stalking horse team that might come in, which maintains a floor for value in trades.
But the Spurs neither have the assets, the cap space, or the desire to be part of big trades anymore, so they are out.
So who are the leverage teams now? UTA and ATL come to mind. OKC has the assets but don't have any realistic ability to pay anyone, nor should they want to change anything they're already doing.
Would be hilariously dumb but we could do it. I don't know of a team who can do better than two guards with star potential who are 3 and 4 years a way from their paydays.
