Game Thread Spurs (59-18) @ Nuggets (49-28) (Sat 4/4/2026) [2:00PM CDT]

I’m really only mad at Fox tbh. Dude just played around while everybody else was trying to win. Why did he flip that shot up instead of leaning in and putting it on the glass? The guy doesn’t seem serious

I hope LeBron puts the Lakers on his back the last 4-5 games because I’d rather OKC and Denver beat each other up in 6-7 games than to have to face the Nuggets ourselves.

Not too bad. Spurs almost had the win. They needed that to learn from. Good experience before the playoffs. Need to taste blood so they don’t take teams too easy

Haven't seen the Spurs choke one away for a while. This one was sort of bad. I hope it stings.

Why are you blaming fox? It was wemby’s fault tbh.
Lol. It's not Vic's fault De'Aaron is a poor three point shooter. This is high stakes games. He has to be able to hit shots. Not fucking airball it. He has zero range. I don't really want him taking any last second 3s in the playoffs where he's not set. He can hit from the midrange, but he's got nothing on the outside. There's no way I'd be air balling those shots he air balled. No, I'm nowhere near the player he is, but I am every bit a better shooter. I don't like what I am seeing from him shooting the ball from range. He's been poor from the three point line for quite a while now. He looked like he had improved a bit at the start of the season, but the past months, he's been shooting it poorly from three point range. I'd rather Dylan and Steph take those shots.

Anyway, the Spurs won the game but threw it away (snatched defeat from the jaws of victory). Denver sure as fucking didn't win it by outplaying them.

It seems like Mitch instructed the team to give the ball at the end to Fox play after play. He wanted Fox to redeem himself, IMO. It was a bad decision. They should have continued playing like they played all game. Alternate ball handling duties. Steph looked pissed at the end and rightfully so.

this loss is no big deal in itself: good close game; on the court of a very good team. but we really should hope that Denver stay behind the lakers, and this loss tonight surely doesn't help.
Spurs could win both Denver games and it wouldn't matter with both Doncic and Reaves done for the season. Don't see the Lakers winning another game this season (regular or post).

More Harper, less Fox.

Fox should be a prime trade target after Denver beats us out in the 2nd round this year because the Lakers aren't winning another game with their 2 best players out.

We're playing a championship level team with a top 3 player in the league and it's unbearable bitching as usual.
Naw, not today. It says something that we lose against the first healthy good team that we play. Spurs aren't as bad as they looked today, but they're not as good as they think they are either. Extremely doubtul they can get past the 2nd round, especially if they face Denver.

Choke shots galore for us. KJ, Vassell, Champ, Fox all missed so many shots that would've swung in our favor. Not our day. Do we always lose early games?
i wouldn't say choke, it was a good game. but 0/16 on threes for fox, castle and keldon didn't help.

I'm not upset about the loss, I'm upset because it likely means we'll be playing the Nuggets in the second round.
I don't think we can beat both the Nuggets and the Thunder in consecutive series.

We gave them way too many free passes by taking 3s instead of attacking the basket.
And while we have to give something up, leaving a man completely wide open in the corner isn't a feasible strategy for the playoffs unless we're talking non-shooters.

Castle, Fox and Keldon shot 0-16 from 3pt.
Keldon was 3-4 from inside the arc, he can't be this passive when it's Jokic that's trying to close him out. That's an easy drive every single time.

Mitch got outcoached at the end where Adelman drew up a perfect play to send it to OT and his best action was to have Wemby run at 3 defenders from the top of the key.

Sucks to lose, but overall great game and great experience and will only help to reinforce that they cannot assume they can steamroll easily to a title…

The altitude got to some players and props to the nuggets for not giving up…but spurs will be fine.

I was tearing my hair out this entire game because of how many horribly stupid mistakes our team repeatedly made and yet we only lost by 2.
We are going to fucking rape that fat fuck in a month.

You're honestly just a fucking retard.
We have by far the best record when it comes to top4 teams in each conference h2h.

Hell of a game. You can tell Denver really wanted this one, and the effort showed. No shame in this learning opportunity tbh.

Fox left me wanting tonight, but I thought everyone else who played meaningful minutes was great.

Ugh don't want to play these fuckers in the 2nd round at all.

Some championships come down to avoiding the worst matchup, and that was definitely the case in 2007, with Dallas not avoiding the Warriors and the Spurs avoiding Dallas (and to a lesser extent, the Pistons) by sheer luck.
Looks like it’s going to happen. Lakers are all banged up and Denver will get that 3 seed. So it is what it is. We can beat them. I think we will beat them. But it might go the distance.

Some of our guys didn’t play well. Like I said that’s about as deep as they could possibly dig and it took overtime for them to beat us.

Eh, the refs kind of favored us, especially in the last several minutes of regulation

Other refs might not call that loose ball foul on Jokic when they were already up 1, might not give Vassell those three free throws, and might not give Wemby 17 free throws tbh. And might have given Jokic free throws on that cheap attempt to draw a foul on Wemby near the three point line.

Disrupting the flow of the game for a narrative ploy is fucking stupid, never want to see it again.
