Game Thread Spurs (59-18) @ Nuggets (49-28) (Sat 4/4/2026) [2:00PM CDT]

He is just gonna have to be load-managed his entire career. Anyone who thinks Wemby can average 34 MPG/78-80 games played per season without his body breaking down in the process is foolish..Unfortunately it's going to be 30-32 MPG for 68-70 games played if we are lucky.

Which is why the majority of arguments against Wembanyama for MVP (workload and offensive role/ppg) are foolish because they're likely to remain applicable throughout his career.

Yet anyone who knows how this league works knows that only availability and a Doncic lifetime achievement award is likely to prevent Wembanyama from being the favorite starting next season.

Gilgeous-Alexander will be a deserving winner and the minutes gap plus the Thunder likely fending off the Spurs for the 1 seed despite the Thunder being injury/rest ravaged are viable reasons, but there's also a wait-your-turn element to this that media should be more honest about.

Wemby off the injury report. Las Brujas did their work

I read that he could file an appeal for the two games he missed due to the birth of his kid.

Damn. We're getting Denver in the 2nd Round.

Don't we have two games against Denver with five games left?

Who has the tiebreaker between Denver and LA?

Still possible for the Rockets to move up to 3. Nuggets still have two games against us, OKC and the Blazers which isn't a gimme.

I think we'll know more 3 games from now.

You quoted me right before I changed it. If we beat DEN in both games and OKC beats them too, then LA might* be able to hang onto it (see their schedule below)

Lakers schedule the rest of the way. They might* be able to beat DAL and UTA without Luka. Doubt they can beat GS with Curry back though it's possible. They'll def lose to OKC obv and prob PHX now too.

They're 2-2 in the tiebreaker. Houston are on the four game winning streak so we'll see.

That also means we're getting fat Luka back. Dude won't be able to do cardio for months.

Lakers have the tiebreaker over Denver. Just beat the Nuggets twice. OKC isn't gonna gift them a W if the Spurs are still a few games back.

We'll know more how it'll shake out after tomorrow's Spurs/Nuggets game tbh.

He most definitely is.
Lebron lost in the second round in his 3rd season.
MJ didn't make it to second round until his 4th season.

Can't compare the likes of Timmy, Magic, Bird or Kareem that had serious help from the start.
You know, 1999 Spurs and this team is kind of an interesting conversation. Who’s deeper and more talented? Different eras obviously. Both dominant teams. I hope it’s the same result at the end of the season.
