Game Thread Spurs (54-18) @ Grizzlies (24-47) (Wed 3/25/2026) [7:00PM CDT]

It's only because of there historic start. I think they started something like 21 - 1. Boat raced out to a huge lead. Take that away and the spurs have been significantly better than OKC. It's actual those 3 losses to the spurs in a short span that brought the thunder back to earth.
They started 24-1, then went 18-13 and are on a 15-1 run now.
Their key players also missed significant time, I don't think we can claim we were significantly better other than h2h games.
We're going to have to prove it in the playoffs.

Kinda nuts how we are 22-3 in the last 25 and still lagging behind OKC. Truly two titans of the west.
All we can do on our end is keep winning and see what happens, should be easy business tonight
Think of it the other way around. They are whatever record they are,and can shake us loose.

Wemby - 15 games missed
Fox - 9 games missed
Castle - 12 games missed
Harper - 13 games missed
Vassell - 15 games missed
Korn Dog - 11 games missed

Other than Jalen Williams, our rotation missed games were fairly comparable, and JW played in 4 of the 5 Spurs games. I don’t think the Thunder can really use the injury excuse in comparing standings with us.

Wemby can miss 3 more games and still hit 65?

If so, I'd rest him the Warriors game next week on the front end of the b2b and leave open the ability to rest him against the Nuggets in the season finale tbh.

By saying also, I meant as in comparable to our injury situation.

Yea the Regular Season means shit once the Postseason starts. Playoffs are a different animal and the Spurs haven't proven anything yet. Lots of guys aren't built for the Playoffs and shrink when the lights are brightest (HB for example). All that Regular Season h2h record stuff goes out the window once the Playoffs start. They will have to prove it when it matters.

Wemby scored 26 in the gold medal game.
Castle won the NCAA title.
Fox is one of the most clutch players in the league and he averaged 27.4ppg in his only playoff series.
Kornet won with the Celtics.
Devin seems to step up when it matters most.

Oh I agree some of our guys have prior big game experience which will definitely help us come Playoff time. And I do believe in Big Game Dev. I'm just saying our Reg. Season h2h record against OKC doesn't matter come Playoff time. I'm not saying we can't/won't beat them. I believe we can if we get that opportunity (though it'd be a long, grueling series imo). But people thinking we'll smoke them in a 7-game Playoff series where they have HCA simply because we went 3-1 against their starters in the Reg. Season is silly. We'll have to prove ourselves in the Postseason.

Don’t think for a minute that we’re not in OKC’s heads. We found the key to their lock, and it’s something that naturally happens in the playoffs. The game becomes more half court, and that’s their Achilles heel. We showed other teams the way: turn them into a half court offense, and run off their misses. They were barely over .500 for a stretch of more than 30 games.

Spurs should win this easily, but I fully expect the key players to get their 20 to 23 minutes with lots of rest, and everyone else to see fairly significant playing time, so this will need to be a team win.

Fox and Kornet being out could make this one interesting. People underestimate the level of stability Fox brings when he is on the floor, and no Kornet means Plumlee time or small ball (probably both).

I think Fox is somewhat underappreciated.
