Game Thread Spurs (46-17) vs Rockets (39-23) (Sun 03/08/26) [7:00PM CDT]

I say the team rides this momentum pretty solid. Good reason to believe stuff is sustainable and perhaps even still room to grow yet. Guys are looking comfortable like dogs in a pack and everyone is eating. Devin looks like a beast and CB is quickly putting it all together. Health and experience are the limiting factors but the league landscape seems more wide open than usual. Not really any big insurmountable juggernaut like you'd usually have, it seems imho.
They need repetitions, just continue trusting each other and the process to weather opponents runs and overcoming (big) deficits. Wemby feels that they are “the best team in the world” but that means continuing what got them there, ball rotations, sharing the ball and defensive stops. Wemby continue anchoring the defense, being patient and let plays develop. GSG!

We’ve got another 5 tough games in a row then it’s a lot of smooth sailing for the last -15 games of the year
Is that going to be a good or a bad thing? Not sure I want smooth sailing games heading into the playoffs. Spurs need to have some form against good teams before the playoffs IMO, or at least play some good teams to keep sharp.

QI only want to see one thing today. That Victor goes beast mode against Sengun. That he finally moves on and puts it behind him. I want to see that spark in his eyes like when he faces Chet

Maybe there has been an article out there that addresses it but I wonder about Vic and his sleep. When they are on the road, how does the guy sleep in hotel beds? Do they bring something he can fit more comfortably in with them?

Great question. I never even thought about that. I assume the Spurs would arrange it to try and make is as comfortable as possible for him.

Hey let's not get down 25 this game, if we're gonna suck for 80% of the game let's at least keep it close.

Funny enough, someone posted this exact question to Reddit after the Clippers win; I was curious myself so I remembered the thread: How does Wemby sleep on the road?

And the answer;
Hotel Manager that host visiting NBA teams here.

We have bed extenders in our property to accommodate those extra tall players. Some NBA teams do request that the hotel has bed extenders available upon request.

Some players do use them, some don't.

What we do is that we bought small platforms with kid beds and rotate the platform and beds to match the width of the king mattress. Duvet and bed sheets do the rest of the work to make it seem like its one long mattress and to ensure there are no gaps.

I really don't get what Rockets' FO is trying to do. Their roster isn't well build with a lack of guards and they did nothing to fix it at the trade deadline while their best player is 37 years old. Are they really hopping that an aging FVV coming from ACL surgery is the missing piece ?

Random thoughts:

My dvr was getting too crowded and there were 20 spurs games which I recorded. I try to keep the best ones and then after watching them live - i might watch one a few days later if possible...but I had 20 already that I had only seen live.

I rewatched and then deleted the Chicago bulls game where wemby closed the deal at the end, really nice. I rewatched the bucks game where wemby banged knees with the greek kunt and that was a nice blowout win by the spurs and then deleted. I usually delete bad losses unless there is something i want to check (foul calls, fights, etc lol) ...

Re-watched and then deleted the celtics game at boston - nice win and lmao at jaylen brown and his whiny ass...i still need to delete more but , for now, am keeping all the okc games...and some real recent games to review as soon as i carve out time...

Last thought - and I feel this is accurate....
We are watching one of these two scenarios playing out this season and it can only be one and i hope it is (B);

A) This is a fantastic season and it is the season before the spurs win it all and it ends in heartbreak- but that heartbreak fuels vic and the team to greatness next year and closing of the deal with a dominant title in 2027....

or

(B) We are in the midst of the first wemby nba title and this next couple of months are going to be special and the spurs will have some tough tough battles but will complete their destiny and we need to cherish the journey and the ups and downs and....

BELIEVE!

I'm just going to take it one game at a time. You'll lose if you start looking that far ahead.
Yes agree...(if referring to my above post) i also was trying to point out how i am enjoying and hope we all are enjoying the ride...

I am sure we are witnessing something special and it made me think of how sometimes we are not aware of something special happening and how sometimes we can be unaware of it when we worry about every loss, every bad play, etc...

Yeah, I was referring to that. It's just too dramatic for me to look at it that way (option B), or even option A would be a gut punch. Very well could be something special, but I'd rather relax and take it one game at a time.
If you listened to Steve Kerr's interview after the Warriors won their first one in 2015, he described perfectly how I always felt during every Spurs Championship run. I'm not on the team or part of the organization, but I felt the same way during the Spurs' runs as Steve said he and his players felt during their first run. He said something like you gotta take it one game at a time, you can't really celebrate a win too much as you have to start thinking about the next game almost right away. The focus you have to keep for the whole playoffs is A LOT to win it all. It's like a relief when you win it all. I feel it's more dramatic watching it unfold as a fan than if you were an actual player on the team.
