Game Thread Spurs (44-17) vs Pistons (45-15) (Thu 03/05/26) [7:00 PM CST]

If we play well and win, great.
If we play well and lose, F it that is great too.

Good playoff tuneup.
My requests
1. Play well
2. No idiotic self induced errors. Example Wemby turnovers. FFS learn to read the floor and know when to give up the dribble.
3. No retardation from Mitch
4. If we get ref F'd that will be sad. But all appearances thus far is that Wemby is going to have to Duncan his way to Chips. That meaning no ref help and plenty of ref / NBA corruption politics to overcome.
all true, but Wemby doesnt have Timmy innate defensive intuition. He just relies on height and long arms. His court sense is poor to average.

Lets get another winning streak going. If Vassell and Champagnie are still on, don't see any reason why we not beat these fuckers at home.

Just stay healthy imo. Really worried about this game more for the injuries than the W/L column tbh.

Need to go all out, the title race starts now.
They aren't catching the Thunder for the one seed tbh. Need to stay focused on locking down the two seed. If they end up below-.500 during these upcoming games it becomes a legitimate race down the stretch; better to focus on winning the more important games against WC opponents imo.

wanna see Plumplee in action

hope he is available in the playoffs

Are you telling us that the top6 is secured?

Having home court in the finals is just as important

it seems we are due for an injury to one of our main guys anyway so my worry increases with every game

Considering how injury-bitten they were up until a month ago I'd hope we've passed the injury-karma bug but considering how injury-prone some of our players are (Vassell, Wemby, Harper) it wouldn't shock me tbh.

Pistons won't be in the Finals imo. Even then, Spurs have a far superior record vs the EC.
boston is unlikely to be ready and knicks don't seem to match up well with them, so i don't exclude it

Think Cleveland gets them in the second round and beats them in 6 tbh. That said, their lack of any sort of secondary creator makes them vulnerable against even Charlotte or Miami imo. They really miss Malik Beasley.

Honestly wonder if Detroit makes a call to CP0 to try to lure him out of retirement tbh.

Nah....he is at Biyombo level of unplayable.....Hitting 20+% FG on offense and will get targeted on defense.

Maybe he could offer some positive contribution as coaching staff....that is the realistic scenario.

Part of his shitty stats this season was playing on a shitty Clippers team where he didn't fit. OTOH, he could have the ball in his hands with plenty of lob threats with an elite defense to back him up in Detroit. Might be enough of a difference to get them out of the East tbh.

Count me in as worried about the ""physicality"" of this game as well. The last game against the Pistons was maybe the dirtiest game the Spurs had to face this season, and they're obviously out for blood after the loss.

The next worst thing that Silver has ever done as Commissioner, after allowing gambling into the NBA, has been the ridiculous push to protect shooting guard types at the expense of big men's safety. That Dort on Jokic shit last week was a prime example, and the league had nothing to say for it.

It's insane that Harper got a flagrant for barely grazing Bronson's foot, yet none of the off-ball fouls the Pistons had on Wemby warranted one. Again I'll root for Mitch to show some balls and get himself ejected if there's anything close to that bullshit happening again

To be fair, Dort did get ejected from the game.

That's not a good deterrent - it's a roleplayer attempting injury/taking out the opposing superstar. Just like Draymond, he will ALWAYS win that "match" because he's expendable to his team like Jokic isn't. A single ejection is just the "toll to pay".

That's why I said Silver needs to step in directly - heavier punishment needs to be issued at some point to actually deter the behavior. Otherwise it's a "speeding ticket on a Lamborghini" situation - Beef Stew has every incentive to take out Wemby, as well, for the same reason.
