Game Thread Spurs (44-17) vs Pistons (45-15) (Thu 03/05/26) [7:00 PM CST]

Who’s gonna set the tone on our side once Detroit starts playing prison ball

Brutal home stretch schedule coming up. Going 4-2 would be pretty damn impressive tbh.
If they go 4-2 on this home stretch I think they'll have a 60 win season. They'd have to go 9-3 over the last 12: Clippers X 2; Kings, Suns, Pacers, Heat, Grizz, Bucks, Bulls, Warriors, NuggetsX2, 76ers, Trailblazers, and Mavs. 5 of those teams are on the hard tank track, so they likely need to go 4-3 against the rest and 4 of them--Bucks, Warriors, 6ers and Nuggets are battling key injuries. Hardest remaining games would seem to be Suns, Heat and maybe the Clippers twice.

all true, but Wemby doesnt have Timmy innate defensive intuition. He just relies on height and long arms. His court sense is poor to average.
Give him some time brother.. He is 22..

:vic-cheers:

You know Jokic was a hell of a player but he didn't start playing at an all world MVP level until he was 25-26..

Mitch should set the tone early with refs if the Pistons cross the permissible line of physical play with Wemby.. Last game was travesty in what Detroit were allowed to get way with defending him.

That's not a good deterrent - it's a roleplayer attempting injury/taking out the opposing superstar. Just like Draymond, he will ALWAYS win that "match" because he's expendable to his team like Jokic isn't. A single ejection is just the "toll to pay".

That's why I said Silver needs to step in directly - heavier punishment needs to be issued at some point to actually deter the behavior. Otherwise it's a "speeding ticket on a Lamborghini" situation - Beef Stew has every incentive to take out Wemby, as well, for the same reason.
I agree. Dort should have ben suspended. Same goes with Cunningham. He is a dirty player and gets away with it.

He's also patently wrong. Wemby has terrific defensive instincts even for being as young as he is tbh.

yeah exactly, not sure what this dude is looking at.. smh

Count me in as worried about the ""physicality"" of this game as well. The last game against the Pistons was maybe the dirtiest game the Spurs had to face this season, and they're obviously out for blood after the loss.

The next worst thing that Silver has ever done as Commissioner, after allowing gambling into the NBA, has been the ridiculous push to protect shooting guard types at the expense of big men's safety. That Dort on Jokic shit last week was a prime example, and the league had nothing to say for it.

It's insane that Harper got a flagrant for barely grazing Bronson's foot, yet none of the off-ball fouls the Pistons had on Wemby warranted one. Again I'll root for Mitch to show some balls and get himself ejected if there's anything close to that bullshit happening again
I don't think DET will be allowed to get away with that in San Antonio... we will find out in a few short hours!
