He lacks raw stats. But if the spurs continue their winning streak to 20 games with wembg averging 27/14/4/4 he's going to be in the mvp conversation.

Spurs could end up with the best record and Wemby still wouldn't win MVP tbh. NBA media is notorious for awarding it based on whose turn they consider it to be. Spurs also have a lot of talent while a team like Detroit is heavily dependent on Cade and Duren to win games.

Right now the spurs are on 10 game winning streak if they continue the streak to 20 games that will get a lot of media attention. Wemby needs to take adavantage of it and pad his stats while the team is on a winning streak. Wemby is a media darling. They already glazing wemby at allstar break.

Agreed, but it would take Jokic, SGA, and Doncic all missing the 65 game threshold with Cunningham and Brunson underperforming to get to frontrunner status (whether that's fair or not) tbh.

Wemby can get the top spot if the spurs continue the winning streak. The only problem is the minutes restiction. If mitch play wemby 35 mpg(like tonight's game) the rest of the season he has a good shot.
Doncic is already out because lakers sucks.

Doncic has a better shot than Wemby because he's a Laker on top of the raw stats tbh. He's also one of those players the voters would give it to due to perceiving it to be his turn.

Wemby has a higher chance than Luka in my opinion. Yes doncic has the stats but lakers are inconsiatent, 5th spot and might not win 50 games. Thats the reason luka didnt win MVP up until now. I think he only had 2 50 win season in his career and the highest hia team finished is 5th or 4th seed.

Assuming the Lakers stay around 5 and the aforementioned players miss the 65 game threshold with Doncic reaching it they'll give it to him imo. Lakers have a much worse roster and media bias will absolutely run with that as reason enough to give it to him.

Great win. Is the shooting sustainable? Probably not, but the win was convincing enough with certain guys could be able to step in if Vassell does not score that much.
And fuck Cunningham and Duren :LOL:
 
got damn, great test and they passed with flying colours

A+ from everyone, the attention to details in defense was incredible

champ, vassell kept making clutch 3s, very impressive win

All the winning this season has almost made me forget the long losing years between 2019 and 2025. A lot of frustration and a lot of hand wringing but it was also good to see the development of talent like Keldon and Devin and the ups and downs they went through. And later that of Wemby, Castle and now Harper. At the same time ..while they were part of losing teams...folks like White, Murray, Poeltl, Derozan helped keep the Spurs somewhat competitive and were traded for the picks that either led to the talent who are now contributing to winning or helped us go through more losing to luck into Wemby, Castle and Harper.

Failure is indeed the stepping stone for success.
 
That Castle sequence was unreal where he covered Cade defensively all possession, forced the miss, recovered the loose ball, took it up court, drove to the basket, drew the foul, made the and 1 bucket on Holland and then I think made the FT.

Just a complete end to end sequence. Amazing.
 
That was a fun game to watch. I really liked the physicality. Wemby dominating on an off shooting night. Cade and Duren in early foul trouble helped, could have been a different game otherwise. But that was a great win. Now let's try and not get murdered by Mamu next game.
 
The Spurs looked like the better team, but some caution the Pistons were 7-26 from 3 while Spurs were 18-40.. +33.

I only watched the 10 minute highlight package so cant say if that was shooting anomaly or if Spurs were generating better looks from 3 and defending the 3 better.
 
That was an intense and fun game to watch! Wemby's defense was just unreal (still, Duren's dunk over him was sick, so athletic) and I liked that he mostly didn't force things offensively. Castle was great against Cade on defense and, after initially struggling on the offensive end, settled down and found good ways to contribute there as well.
Might this have been a Finals preview? I rather doubt it: There are quite a number of potential stumbling blocks for the Spurs in the West (not that we should realistically expect them to make the Finals this season anyway!), and I'm a bit skeptical about the high-end potential of this Pistons squad in the playoffs, at least for the time being.
