Game Thread Spurs (33-16) vs Thunder (40-11) (Wed 2/04/26) [8:30 PM CST]

this is some shit Pop would do back in the day :st-lol:
I still remember when David Stern fined the Spurs $250K for sending Tim, Tony, Manu, and Danny Green home on their private plane right before the NBA's primetime Spurs-Heat matchup in Miami lol. Then the Spurs almost won the game anyways with a starting lineup of Patty Mills, Matt Bonner, Tiago Splitter, Boris Diaw, and Nando DeColo :st-lol:. Gary Neal had a big game off the bench too IIRC. Good times.

Edit*: Found the highlights of this game.

Just thinking about the "Nothing Will be Okay" thread if the Spurs lose this game tonight tbh

Spurs have no business making the playoffs if they can’t secure the win tonight then lol.

This is a game that both teams have marked on their calendars. Sure to be a grind - hopefully we get the Good Spurs to come out and play.

Can't see how Wemby performs, he's either dropping 14 or 40, no inbetween
Nobody on OKC is showing up lol.

David Stern loved to schedule the Spurs against the Heat or the Lakers on the second night of a B2B and put the game on TNT or ABC.

Eventually it was just Pop being a loser for the sake of his ego, but at one point there was a reason for it.

Booooo

Was hyped for this game
I’m certainly an old-school fan myself and this is the type of situation that makes fans my age crap all over the current NBA. A hyped up nationally televised game just before the All-Star break. And one team sits every relevant player for rest. Definitely not the kind of thing you would see in the 90s.

I mean we did it in the past. Didnt agree with it then, but we did.

Yeah Pop took a hit for that. It is a part of his legacy.
Its just lame tbh. Especially for overseas fans like me. Good thing this didnt happen to us when we went, we actually went 3-0. :D

I cant imagine being fucked like this by the NBA tbh. Though Id still have been happy being able to watch Wemby for example, but imagine if you were an OKC fan

We are se deep in OKC's heads that they are actually pulling the lame ass don't-give-them-a-win-that-counts card and resting their entire Top-8 available players. This is clearly an organizational decision as SGA was the only real scratch when he got injured while chasing a dumb scoring streak.

The mentality is just crazy different. A long time ago the Orlando Magic got all pissed off at Shaquille O’Neal for showing up late to a nationally televised game against the Chicago Bulls. He was at his grandmother‘s funeral. Today they would give Shaquille the week off without blinking an eye.

But our core had won multiple rings by then and were all over 30. Not to mention Manu and TP frequently playing overseas during the summer. Is anyone besides Caruso even older than 28 on the Thunder?
