Game Thread Spurs (32-16) vs Magic (25-22) (Sun 2/01/26) [8:00PM CST]

We ain’t gotta a choice. gotta wrap his ass in bubble wrap cause of how weird he’s built smh
If he’s built to only play like 50 games per season might as well get rid of him right now in all honesty. I agree rub some dirt on it. The playoffs are a grind. You could potentially have to play 28 games to win a championship. I don’t think babying him is the answer. At least not overly babying him.

Assuming a lineup of Fox Vassell Champs Barnes Wemby to start with heavy Harper minutes. More Fox and Wemby + shooters centric play, ball in the hands of natural point guards, heavier minutes for the rookie, it’s what I’ve been wanting to see for a while.

I REALLY need this to work tonight otherwise I’m scared for Mitch never trying it when Castle is back lol

Barnes will probably go 6-8 from 3 tonight and send Champ back to the bench once Steph is back (I presume on Wednesday) :st-lol:

Could be a game we see some Stanley Umede minutes (he and Ingram are both listed as available for this game). I'm already anticipating some Waters and Olynyk playing time.

I know i keep beating the drum regarding keeping one of Castle or Harper, but this should be a good litmus test if we start that lineup

Reminds me of that bullshit playoff game in 2008 when the Spurs were stuck on the tarmac for like 8 hours then had to play the Lakers after a 7 game war with New Orleans.
yup, remember that like it was yesterday. spurs were dominating too and i believe had an 18pt lead in the 3rd quarter and laker fans began to boo. but they ran out of gas and lakers came back. changed the entire series tbh.

I’m still pissed about that shit. I always thought the team’s cheapness was responsible for that. I never really learned the details

I was at a summer program watching the game with a bandwagon lakers fan from south tx..

That was a Pop shitshow special. Bruce was completely locking Kobe down, Spurs up 20, Bruce goes to the bench. Kobe goes fucking nuclear on Udoka and Pop doesn't pull him until it's a four point game and by then nothing Bruce can do to cool the motherfucker back down. I know people are used to seeing 20 point leads fall all the time these days but this was 2008 when a 20 point lead meant game 99.999% of the time.

Just now getting exclusive footage of the San Antonio Spurs battling snow storms and detour in Atlanta during harrowing travel back to the Frost Bank Center for tonight's matchup against the Orlando Magic:

hope the guys can overcome all these challenges......

now is the time to separate the warriors from the boys

That is also the series with the no call on Brent Barry's 3...

It all changed when Bruce Bowen was subbed out. Pop subbed Bruce out for his usual rest. Kobe was having a shit game and Bruce sort of had him under control up to that point.

Who subbed in for Bruce, well, it was our friend Ime Udoka. From what I remember, Kobe absolutely exploded when Ime was guarding him and he was rolling by the time Bruce came back in. I have a hard time liking Ime because of that game. When he was an assistant coach I softened my stance a bit, but that game still bothers me. I wonder how the series plays out if the Spurs win that game.

Not a bold prediction, but hope Dylan is tasked with defensive assignment on Anthony Black.

I agree with the sentiment but man it’s tough when you see calf strain on the injury report and not think of the worst that could happen.

The plane equipment issues were super suspicious. I blamed Stern at the time. It was a disgusting advantage to the Lakers. I also blame Kobe and Lebron for re aggravating Manu's ongoing injury in 2008 Beijing Olympics too.
