Game Thread Spurs (27-11) @ Timberwolves (25-14) (Sun 1/11/26) [6PM CST]

I got it out of my system now, I’m good. I hate repeat losses without at least a revenge win in between but they lost by one in a back to back that proves the NBA hates em. It was a terrible finish and hopefully it’s proving to the FO that this team isn’t a finished product. The foundation is there though and this team is still ahead of my expectations

Fox trying to throw a one handled bullet pass through 3 Wolves defenders was equally as bad tbh
That was annoying but it looked like Keldon was supposed to be a screener on that set and just stood around on the other side of the court instead.

WTH is up with Castle? I have to admit, I am becoming kind of a player-fan and am not as excited to watch when he is playing like garbage. I looked in and saw he was 1-10 and kinda lost interest lol.

Nevermind the shot percentage, that is an obscene amount of turnovers. He really hasn't been shifting the defense at all the past handful of games, but man, that TO number especially sucks.

I dont mind losing. I mind losing with bad play. Shrinking in the moment. Backing down when other team ups their intensity.

Playing sloppy. Turning it over. Terrible shooting and lack of confidence.

You play well and lose? You live with it. Spurs are playing pretty awful and its falls 99% of Fox + Castle + Harper.

Just not good enough at all for them and their responsibilities. Dont know who to blame more either.

Castle has been bad. Stinking up the court on offense. Horrific shooting and 7 turnovers? Unacceptable. But he competes always at least and defends his ass off.

Harper is just lost right now. He cannot score for himself, create for others and is just a net negative for a while now. Now, hes been really good overall this season and shown a ton. He helped the Spurs win a lot of games already. But this stretch has been about as bad as it gets.

Fox is the highest paid player. He is the guy in his prime. Why is he struggling so bad at same time as the other two younger guys? Doesn’t he need to step up more when that happens? Isnt that what hes paid for and what Spurs gave up multiple first round picks for? He’s settling a ton on offense. A crippling over reliance on his jump shot while not using his abilities to get to the rim. Not able to steady the ship at all and putting it all on Wemby despite him being paid to be the co-man here. Now, hes been really good overall this season, but again this is now a 12-14 game stretch of truly bad offensive basketball from him so it’s not nothing.

Fact of matter is the guards need to be better. They are all very talented, have had really great overall seasons, but this last 12+ games now collectively is about as bad as it gets. The great start doesn’t matter if they dont improve as season goes along vs regressing like this.

They all do a lot of great things and have others ways to contribute if not scoring; thats a truly great thing. But you cant play this bad on offense this consistently either. Thats not acceptable.

They are playing hard so I cant ever fault them there. Time to re-focus though.

tbh is it me or is it much much more frustrating to lose a winnable due to stupid Coach Decisions (despite terrible games from the Trio Guards) compared to being blown out by 30 pts from start of game?

This asshole mitch actually threw out the phrase
"Where out of our weight Class"
WTF does that mean.
This isn't the NFL, MMA or SUMO
Look at that Skinny Fuck in Dennis Rodman weighed 210 TOPS his whole career, maybe 6'8" in shoes, technique and desire allowed him to go toe to do with a 300-pound Kaiju like SHAQ
That's why he is in the hall of fame
Isn't that a message you deliver, and example, instead of "Well Vic, is too skinny, Keldon is too short, "

FUCK THIS GUY

The Dunning-Kruger head coach you get from Professor Pop, the Dean of Social Justice and Citizenship, “It’s only basketball” and “It’s not who we are” era of the Spurs.

Fox has just joined the curse of All-Star signing/traded to the Spurs.

All-Star/Former All-Star that join the Spurs will only play at around 70% of their former self

Entire 4th quarter was just bullshit iso ball and terrible offense. Cannot put into words how annoying that shit was to watch.
4 down when everyone stands around like turds was awful for Tim Duncan. It isn't going to be better with Victor Wembanyama.

Maybe Mitch need to grant Castle and Harper a "Rodman Vegas retreat trip" for them to reset.

IIRC...Phil Jackson granted Rodman that trip in the 1998 season and he came back better :st-lol:

Been pounding the drum that a lot of their issues are on the coaching side tbh. They lack shooting, we know this. No excuse for the piss-poor substitution patterns, in-game adjustments, and playcalls out of timeouts. Mitch right now is the biggest problem.

Dude, you’re more irritating than anything you complain about. Just shut up about social justice and all your bullshit. It has nothing to do with this game.

You bitch about pop, who’s not even fucking coaching and then you bitch about millennials.

Did they walk on your grass or have that loud boom boom music while driving near you?

Is there anything you’re not pissed off about?

God damn. You’re too cranky.

Next time take an afternoon nap if a 6pm game is too late for you.

that inbound turnover straight to Divincenzo 3, gonna haunt me until the spurs next win tbh

they had a few of those those turnovers, just unforced

Vic played great, he had a chance to put this away also in the 4th but couldnt make the shots he needed in the 4th, Randle played him well

maybe Vassell comes back on Tuesday? itll be all ok IF we could get a win against OKC. although im expecting a loss with the way we r shooting.
