Game Thread Spurs (27-11) @ Timberwolves (25-14) (Sun 1/11/26) [6PM CST]

Hope mitch uses the bench extensively tonite with an eye on the upcoming okc game …
Champagnie was huge last night and as most of this season has proved…there is always an unexpected player that shows up…

Play the bench, mitch, spread the minutes out…more olynck, waters, even DJG, …

Expecting barnes or harper or someone else to have another breakout game….

I am wishing for wins tonite and tuesday…but if i was forced to choose only 1…

It would be tuesday…fuck okc
We don't even bring our G-League guys to road games. This continues to baffle me.

Man, if Wemby doesn't play today. If Mitch/the staff keep pulling this shit, we simply will not find our footing as well as the chemistry needed to make a deep playoff run.

This is gonna be a bloodbath if we don’t turn around our shooting slump tonight tbh

Lol. roundhouse kicks involve a full body rotation bud.
Yes I know what a roundhouse kick is. He wasn't in the sideline in street clothes in that video either. It's not complicated stuff to understand what I meant.

the one reason might be, if they're active it counts against their 50 game allowance even if they don't play.

Had a feeling we might see Wemby sit tonight in preparation for Tuesday at OKC.
In my eyes this game is more important. I don't see us catching OKC in the standings atm, and we've already proven we have a template to beat them. Meanwhile Minny will be right on our heels if we lose, and we are much more likely to see them in the playoffs. If I had to pick one I'd rather he play this game than OKC unless there's truly injury flare up (I just don't know what to believe from the medical staff anymore)

Win today and you can "rest" Wemby to preserve the mental edge against Thunder.

Unless he's actually hurt, Wemby is playing 21+ minutes today. They can't eat into the remaining cushion for awards viability. (Assuming, of course, that Wemby cares about the awards; I think he does).

Damn, that's almost half the season. And we're still the 2nd Seed.

It's been a crazy year and I don't think any of us really saw a 50+ win season in the cards.

Keep that in mind when the Spurs continue to shoot like shit tonight and fall into the early deficit. The team needs to grow into champions.
Some of us did. The mistake some made, because we wound up with the #2 pick, was seeing last year as a tank year, instead of an abortive play in year. We were on track for it, but once Wemby went down, the logical thing to do was to do Fox’s surgery, for the late drop in the standings to #9.

What must terrify the league is that we’re a flawed team that doesn’t shoot well, and occasionally goes through bouts of turnovers, and we’re second in the West at the pole mark of the season. The only thing that we can really hang our hat on is defense, night to night, and we regularly hold teams at or below 100 points in the pace and space era. We go into hostile arenas and beat top teams. Imagine what happens if our two young guards become even 35-36% 3 point shooters. We could go on a Bulls Style run of titles in an 8 or 10 year period. These are heady times, folks. Enjoy seeing it unfold.

No disagreements here, but who knows what the staff is thinking (and Tuesday is a National TV game thus player participation policy applies, though I feel like Wemby's had legit enough injuries to where there shouldn't be any questions

Yeah, this team isn't where it should and will likely be. They're a stout defensive team now that's scrappy and doesn't crater against leads. Two or three adjustments to the roster, the young players continuing to advance, and this team is pretty nasty.
