Game Thread Spurs (22-7) vs Thunder (26-4) (Thu 12/25/25) [1:30 PM CDT]

That weak-ass L to the Lakers by 2 points where they shot a disgusting 44 FT's in large part because Luka, Reaves, and Smart were flopping all over the place pisses me off too tbh.
Getting raped by G-Leaguers in Cleveland annoyed me too even though I figured they'd lose with Kornhub out.

Should arguably only have 5 or 6 losses if it weren't for those rigged ass games against Golden State when the league was still feeling out the teams at the beginning of the season.
GS 2 wasn't rigged, Curry just went nuclear a second night in a row. Mitch should have gotten kicked out of GS 1 though

Sure but we figured them out when Pop went away from starting 2 traditional bigs (Splitter/Duncan) and used Bonner or Diaw next to Timmy instead. CoJo dunking on Ibaka was also momentum changing.

To be honest, OKC was pretty bad outside of Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, and Jackson. We were actually so much deeper than them in 2014.

For sure, but it took an OT win in game 6 otherwise we are looking at a game 7. OKC really had our number this last decade. Ibaka injury was a blessing as when healthy he was Bird from the mid range against us

Abaka was back for that series and didn't look hampered at all tbh. What really hurt them was the corpse of KMart in place of Harden, though Reggie Jackson took on the role of Spurs killer for them.

Ibaka didn’t return until game 3 when OKC were already down 0-2. Ibaka for the series had it 2-2. I’m glad either way, but that was a nice break in our favor

The Spurs have reshaped how an offense is run. No one is actually the point guard that runs the offense. The offense is ran through multiple ball handlers who create motion and disruption within the defense and then find the best shot available. It's a little bit chaotic and I worry about it's sustainability, but for right now it's looking like brilliance. I feel like Sweeney and Johnson have probably worked on this together. You can definitely see Sweeney's impact on the defense.

I watch the games and I Wonder to myself why is Castle not passing the ball to Fox to run the offense? That's because the ball handler at the time starts the offensive set. The great thing is fox seems to be okay with this. He lets the offense come to him and when his time is available he becomes the scorer. Just like Castle becomes the scorer. Just like Johnson becomes the scorer. Just like Devin becomes the scorer.

I hope it continues to work. Because right now it's murdering defenses

I don't really agree.... we played small pretty heavily featuring a heavy dose of Stephen Jackson at PF in 2012 and still couldn't defend anyone.

I’m talking about 2014. OKC with harden in 2012 was a scarier matchup than the team we played in 2014. 2012 Spurs were nowhere near good as the 2014 team either.

Just watched the replay after getting home from X-Mas plans. Man thrilled to be wrong about this one. OKC looks shook playing us right now. Just keep it rolling boys. Long long season..

Fuck it, I want the Thunder to jump out to a big lead. Then just when they start feeling confident, the Spurs methodically come back and beat them handily by the end of the fourth. That would completely shatter their confidence in a way that another solid win wouldn't.
Hahahaha wouldn't you know it, a Christmas miracle.

These two photos tell it all, IMO. We never let them get too close. These wins aren’t flukes because we consistently punished them. When it got within 11 at 7:45 in the 4th, Vic hits a 3. When it got within 10 with 4:09 in the 4th, Fox makes a layup. As others have stated, this was another professional win, not one dependent on timely runs.

I know we won today.

But the amount of open looks we have given them
On 3’s today is quite underwhelming.

They didn’t hit majority of them, but they got really good looks than us.

We made tough shots. They missed easy shots. We messed up their head.

Shai is great - other than his complete lack of integrity and how he’s a fraud mvp.

I mean that. I like his vibe and his skillset. He just plays like a bitch and is bad for basketball.

Craziest part of these OKC wins?

1. Obviously that Vic is only playing 21ish minutes per. Our monster is chained.

2. We have so much to improve upon on defense (3pt line) and rebounding. I was having NYK rebound and PHX 3pt PTSD with this some of this sh*t. And we still won, handily.
