Game Thread Spurs (22-7) vs Thunder (26-4) (Thu 12/25/25) [1:30 PM CDT]

Thoughts:

I was told Fox was too small for this matchup but he was big today.

Champagnie is gonna see his minutes dip in a potential series against the Thunder. He really isn’t for this matchup but maybe he figures it out.

SGA isn’t jack shit when things don’t go his way. Maybe the spurs are his kryptonite because they’ve made him look so average and overrated in these games.
I don't know how many rebounds Julian got tonight, but he does help with rebounding. Don't know what else to say, though, as it would really help if he can some other things out there.
not that it matters but we won the season series against the Thunder
How does the cup game factor into it? Does that count for the season series?
You mean offensively.

We've been monsters on D
Yes, great to point that out. Spurs have been playing great defense.
Beating OKC will be a whole different beast in the playoffs, but very encouraging to see how terrible a matchup the Spurs are for the Thunder. LOL all the analysts saying you can't have three point guards when that's such a huge reason the Spurs can fight through OKC's turnover forcing defense.
Yep. It will be hard. Gotta cut the unforced turnovers and rebound the ball better.
I thought this may have been the worst defensive performance of the 3 games against them. Gave up way too many wide open 3s, especially in the corners. Spurs were just so deep in their heads they blew wide open 3 one after another all game.

This team still have to improve guarding the 3 before the playoffs. Can't give teams that many open looks.
Yeah, I'd agree with that point. Probably the worst defensive game of the three. We gave up open threes, but maybe the Spurs got to them a little bit.
We were 0-4 against OKC in the regular season that same year too and still beat them in the playoffs in 6.
I don't remember that. I didn't remember the Houston record either. Did the Rockets make the playoffs that year? But, point is, regular season stuff doesn't always matter as much when you're a championship level team. Can't get too excited over these wins (apart from celebrating a little bit the night of). Just move on to the next one and keep improving game by game is the goal.
Great great win.

Hope there is no serious issue with wemby as he has taken quite a few falls and twice grabbing his calf/shin?

Also recalled that the commentator mentioned Fox was grabbing his upper left thigh/leg during the 4Q.
Yeah, hope this is all good. I was worried about both during those moments.

Cowboys losing would have been better for the draft pick, since they've been eliminated from the playoffs for awhile, but as Jerry Jones says "we're gonna finish 8-8 and ya're gonna like it" and what do you know, with the tie score game against Green Bay, we're actually going to finish a perfectly .500 8-8 despite a 17 game season. Dak always gets up for division games and shits the bed against everyone else, lol.
It doesn't matter Jones would just fuck up the pick anyway

Vic just said he’s gonna keep some to himself and the team when asked what he learned of OKC after 3 games 😂

Also said “most” of the team is coachable 😂

Castle nor Vassell are 6' 7"... 6'5" at most
Wrong. Spurs purposely lower height. Wemby 7’5.5. If u look at Vassel he is huge next to other nba 6’6 guys. Vessel 6’7 easily. Cassel was listed 6’5.5 without shoes at combine so close to 6’7 with shoes. Harper 6’4.5 without shoes at combine so close to 6’6. Fox has always been 6’4. Listed 6’3. Look at him next time other nba players. Dude is lanky tall

Can you share Spurs podcasts? Ive been doing the Locked On Spurs
Actually I don't listen to any Spurs podcasts, though I have caught a few with Michelle Beadle and her guys (Parsons and forget the other guy's name). Currently just checking out the usual suspects - Bill Simmons, Dunc'd On, Zach Lowe, KOC, and whatever the algo sends to my YouTube feed. Expanding horizons is on my list of good intentions.

I try to stay away from “big” podcasts especially when they say Sochan is still a rotation player. Just seems obvious somr of these dudes still havent watched us play.

I don't think you'll get any agreement on Vassell being 6'7".
