Game Thread Spurs (22-7) vs Thunder (26-4) (Thu 12/25/25) [1:30 PM CDT]

It's crazy how OKC struggles mightily with us, but PHX seems to own us.

Maybe now that we are full strength, we can beat the Suns.

OKC is kind of broken mentally right now. They won 17 in a row and looked unbeatable. Then we beat them in the NBA Cup game and now they’ve lost 3 out of their last 5.

It’s like us after we won 20 in a row in 2012, then went on to lose 4 straight (against OKC). You’re so used to winning, that when you finally lose again, you lose your sense of invincibility, your confidence.
:st-wakeup:

I thought this may have been the worst defensive performance of the 3 games against them. Gave up way too many wide open 3s, especially in the corners. Spurs were just so deep in their heads they blew wide open 3 one after another all game.

This team still have to improve guarding the 3 before the playoffs. Can't give teams that many open looks.
Though, that seems to be a league wide pandemic of the past decade or so and has just gotten worse. Teams just dont care to rotate out as much as before, and would rather spend their energy on offense

I'm not sure I agree with this. The Thunder won a title, but it's very clear they're still a young team prone to nerves. They don't necessarily have the edge over the Spurs, especially if you add in this season. I'm far more worried about the Spurs losing the Suns or Warriors in the first round than I am about the Thunder rolling the Spurs in the third round.
I think they deserve a lot of credit for taking Denver down.

Another statement game. OKC missed a shit load of treys. If they hit a few more, the Spurs might’ve been in trouble as their offense got a stagnant.

I do worry about how poorly we guard the corner 3. A team like the Nuggets would really punish us with that.

Cowboys beat the Formerskins

Spurs beat the Butt thunder

What a great sports Christmas
Cowboys losing would have been better for the draft pick, since they've been eliminated from the playoffs for awhile, but as Jerry Jones says "we're gonna finish 8-8 and ya're gonna like it" and what do you know, with the tie score game against Green Bay, we're actually going to finish a perfectly .500 8-8 despite a 17 game season. Dak always gets up for division games and shits the bed against everyone else, lol.

Yep. He's fine. But the Thunder are being exposed as being dependent on him. Chet's contract looks questionable now. He gets bodied by Keldon of all people. Long-term, they might be better off trading Holmgren and Williams for a real second max player so they can keep their depth in the future.
Personally hope they blow their load on Giannis tbh. Would significantly shorten their title window. I worry they wait another year or two and go out to acquire Ant.

I believe with the way of the current NBA and laziness of modern NBA defenses, the corner three needs to either be pushed back or eliminated. Just make a flat vertical three point line at 25 feet. It just seems so much shorter and easier than it did 15+ years ago. When Bruce Bowen was hitting all those consistently at 45% it felt like an accomplishment. Now it's literally just another Tuesday.

Denver being the veteran team missed the chance to step on their throats in Game 4 at home and put them in 1-3 hole..The Duncan Spurs did this multiple times to young upstart teams/contenders to the point that we pull the plug early in game 5 and close out G6 in our building.

The first game there was no Fox and Harper had 12 pts in 11 min then went out with the calf.

The 2nd game there was no Wemby, Castle, or Harper.

Phoenix hasn't played this team yet.

Thankfully Mitch recognized it wasn't working and called TO to change it up. Pop would have stubbornly stuck with it until OKC was up 5.

Well at least until the lead was shrunk to 5 or something. The Gary Neal "let's not guard Mike Miller because he's missing a shoe" defense.
