Game Thread Spurs (21-7) vs Thunder (26-3) (Tue 12/23/25) [7:30 PM CDT]

It was ugly disappointments from 08 - 13. That's what made 2013 up until the finals and then the 2014 run so special is that we got revenge on all the teams that beat us during those 6 years.
2011 kinda sucked but I knew none of those teams were true contenders pre-2012 tbh.

08 - Should've gone 6 or 7 at least with the Lakers (Barry got fouled by Fisher tbh) but would've gotten smoked by the Celtics
09 - Tim and Manu were out for the season
10 - Overachieved thanks to Hill and Blair and getting the Mavs in the first round
11 - Worst defense of the Duncan era, though never should've lost to the Grizz even with Manu's injury ( :st-lmao: Pop)

Yeah imagine having Splitter on the bench but still playing McDyess and Bonner/Blair. That's what I like about Mitch. He hasn't gotten too cute with lineups (other than making Wemby come off the bench). If Pop was still coaching, Luke wouldn't play so many minutes and we would be getting Sochan instead.

Ahh damn I forgot we had a “Why is Splitter not getting minutes?” phase 😂 and rightfully so tbh

Poor corpse of Mcdyess playing Zbo and Marc Gasol that was a tough watch

2009-2013 some of the worst coached Spurs teams I have seen. Pop doing work

One trend I have observed is that in both game this season Jalen Williams and Chet have had low inefficient FG percentages while SGA continues to shoot high percentages against the Spurs. The key so far has been shutting down both of those guys while SGA goes off. It will be interesting if those guys have another subpar game against the Spurs in this Christmas game. If they have another bad game then it could be a mental thing where the Spurs are in their heads.
That is an indicator of who is a star, and who is a high level role player.

The Spurs, Wemby in particular, are definitely in their heads. If nothing else, they aren’t getting to rest in the 4th quarter. There was a blurb on the broadcast that SGA has sat out 32 complete 4th quarters.

I said something similar a few weeks ago but it had only been 1 or 2 games of having the 3 point guards together but its a complete game changer.

The opponent gets no rest on either end of the court for 48 minutes. We have 3 PGs who can get into the lane at will and all 3 can score/finish around the rim.

That in out itself is great but couple that with Wemby on defense and they can all apply huge pressure on the opponents bc Wemby cleans up anything inside the 3 point line.

Im never against adding talent and wishing for the spurs to improve…
But if you consider that we have
Wemby PLUS three all-star level guards…(now and future-wise)

And a nice solid group of positive contributors, it kinda seems silly to STILL say “we are one PF away from…” or “if spurs trade this guy for that star…” etc..

Even having sochan and djg and olynck who may get little or no time but are great teammates is really something valuable and i, for one, am fine with this group kept- as is- for a playoff run.

No one was happier than i was when biyombo got that garbage time dunk tbh..lol

I'd be OK with Biyombo if we had the Biyombo from last season as he would have been fine as a 3rd stringer (could rebound, set screens, pass a little bit - the main worry I had about him was catching the ball), but even on that dunk (maybe he wasn't warm enough), it looked like he barely got up there. I just can't figure out what happened. He looks a lot worse this season. It looks like he can't do much of anything.

Thunder accepted just 5 shots at the rim and a total of 13 in the paint in the second half last night.

Spurs had 12 makes at the rim in the second half.

Not a surprise the win streak happens when all 5 of Wemby, Castle, Harper, Fox, and Kornet are finally playing at the same time.

crazy that all 14 players had a positive plus/minus and everybody scored

So Sochan was the only guy who got the DNP?

There has to be something there behind the scenes. Frustration spilling out and Mitch having to make a stand and exert control. For everyone's sake it would behoove Wright to find a landing spot for Sochan if that's the case.

I selfishly need to share it with you guys...

BOTH my teams are playing a unique brand of basketball and football, both labelled "ethical", both don't rely on any individual, both have each game a different MVP, both are unselfish etc

Spurs and PSG, I love you to death

One of Keldon's jab steps went out of bounds on that under the basket play with Chet guarding.

edit: :25 sec on that clip

Oh that Kedon play is when Chet got the busted nose too? lol there was a slow mo replay last night where Chet is shown after the busted nose when he has the cotton wad plugged up there to stop the bleeding.Chet exerts in the slow mo replay and I guess exhales through his nostrils and the cotton wad kinda pops out like the nose on the Orlando Magic mascot when the little party tubes pop out of its nose lol
