Game Thread Spurs (13-6) vs Grizzlies (9-12) (Tue 12/2/25) [7:00PM CDT]

like... in a vacuum i like julian taking those shots. but FFS we have Edey and JJJ on the floor with 3 fouls apiece in the 2nd quarter. every shot attempt for the foreseeable future should be in the paint. i dont even care if we miss the next 5 shots
in fairness, if both bigs are in foul trouble, it makes sense for them to play more in the paint in their safe zone where they control whether they foul or not, so it stands to reason that more open threes would be available

i honestly had no issues with how the first half was played, I thought it was solid throughout from everyone

HB gonna have to bail us out against MEM again.

Turnovers is the key here. Only 4 in the first half... good stuff. Meanwhile MEM has 10.

Fox is made to pad stats on a terrible team. It's gonna take a while for him to get past that. The NBA is littered with guys who could score and never contributed to a winning team.

Is it me or Champ seems always get blown by his man?

Hahahahahaha, this was fun

JJJ would be maddening to root for even as good as he can be. All these years and hes still fouling like a buffoon.

Only able to listen on the radio and boxscore watch but feels like a fluke the Spurs are up tbh.

yeah his man to man defense has always been pretty poor. he's at his best when he's engaged and helping others. lately he's been crashing the boards pretty well, though i havent really noticed him battling on the glass today

first quarter run was a fluke, but they were actually just playing pretty well down the stretch in the 2nd quarter

we've got 3 fouls on Edey and 4 on JJJ at halftime, and that'll be the key

Need to really go after JJJ and Edey to get those guys their 5th and 4th fouls early. Would change the entire dynamic of the game with either on of them on the bench.

i dont care where they feel safer. if they're in the paint, you attack them head on and force them to gamble going for a block/foul. otherwise they will have to back off and give very light contests at the rim. we already saw this when harper attacked and edey couldnt aggressively contest, leading to an easy layup

This is the first game where I feel like CB is a net positive. You could always see the ability, but he just couldn't find a coherent role. Tonight he looks like he's doing that.

They've been playing better without JJJ tbh.
