Game Thread Spurs (13-6) vs Grizzlies (9-12) (Tue 12/2/25) [7:00PM CDT]

Just my opinion, but I think we're at the top of a third tier behind DET/DEN/HOU/CLE/LAL (which I'd have in that order). I'm happy with that.
i think thats about right, which is great considering how much room to grow this team has with the young guys.

we will also continue to have our growing pains in some of these close games against good teams. like once the lakers came back from the 8-10 point 4th quarter deficit or whatever it was, i felt much more confident that Luka would find ways to make plays/shots than our guys would. similarly, the warriors are experts at closing games, and it showed twice.

we've had our moments too, but not with the level of consistency as some true contenders (contender is a loose term these days with nobody looking like theyre on OKC's level)

Great points. I think it is worth remembering that basketball is a sport where almost everyone has had to experience failure before they got to success, including the two undisputed (by most) GOATs, Jordan and LeBron.

How quickly our guys will learn from these "youth" losses and start turning them into wins will be the key factor. I have a lot of faith in our big 3 young guys (Wemby, Castle, Harper). They just have that "it" factor about them that gives me this faith... we just need them to be healthy to play in these kinds of games!

theyre all speculating based on the previously reported timelines (by national media, not the local beat guys)

they had said 1-2 weeks for castle, and "multiple" weeks for wemby. so now 2 weeks later theyre saying castle is close and wemby still a bit more to go.

theyre not providing any information, they're just repackaging what everybody already knew. with that said, sometimes no news is good news, as you want to avoid a setback more than anything else

also, given that the spurs are on a b2b, they dont have to publish an injury report leading up to tomorrow's Orlando game until mdiday tomorrow, though perhaps we hear from mitch before or after today's game

This in particular, the Spurs are clearly in the "we don't give timelines" business. Giving expected timelines and then going passed them means they will only get questions about setbacks, whats wrong, etc. Different people heal differently, by being vague they can just sidestep the questions entirely.

The Fox return showed the blueprint; just watch the league-mandated injury report, everything else is just people guessing.

Houston has me worried (especially if Reed is anywhere close to being for real). I know they've dropped some games against good teams, but they also have beat the snot out of teams that beat us or gave us a lot of trouble. They seem like they will be just fine when KD has his inevitable 20 game injury.

Spurs held off their size last time with Barnes shooting out of his mind and Edey working his way back, but can't make rotational mistakes like Sochan at C or paired with Bryant or lineups with one shooter and expect another win.

Regular season. Playoffs, they'll still be a tough out, but without an MVP caliber player I don't see them winning a championship in this era.

Okc might break the all time regular season record and may also get 2 lottery picks in the next draft. Got damn.

Aldama is the guy we all hope Sochan would turn into. Alas

Posting pre-game media availability after the scheduled tip-off time is peak Spurs media team.
Just completely unserious.

The media team has actually improved this season if you’ve been paying attention. The social media graphics are top tier.

Alright then, social media guys get a pass.
Let's call them the more serious part of the media department guys responsible for interviews etc don't.

As I already wrote, not feeling good about this one.
We need to get Edey off the floor and that means attacking him and exposing his defense. Get him into foul trouble if needed.

Is that 2 on Edey?

Go straight at Edey every time and dare him to not draw a third...

Vassell had the perfect opportunity to turn the corner (ha) and go right at him and instead opted for the 12 foot pull up
