It's about damn timethis off season was extra long
I'm guessing Mitch is gonna go with Vic/Barnes/Champ/DV/Castle but I would start Wemby and Kornet for this game
same. issue with starting Wemby/Kornet, it also becomes trickier to make sure they stay staggered throughout, especially since we dont have the Olynyk/Sochan options to survive some minutes here and there, and i really dont want to see a heavy dose of BismackI'm guessing Mitch is gonna go with Vic/Barnes/Champ/DV/Castle but I would start Wemby and Kornet for this game
this is true. their only other available big is Dwight Powell. he's a reasonable rotation guy but he's not really going to be the type to punish a small lineup, and there's no more Luka to just feed him easy dunks over and overWith Gafford out, the Mavs have almost no size coming off the bench. I would start the standard preseason group and then go from there based on the first five mins. It’s not clear that they can play an oversized lineup for an extended period
BRING HIM BACK (to the coaching staff)

Good point, so in theory the Spurs may not need to worry too much about matching the AD/Lively minutes with Wemby/Kornet--could be a great early test of the French Vanilla pairingthis is true. their only other available big is Dwight Powell. he's a reasonable rotation guy but he's not really going to be the type to punish a small lineup, and there's no more Luka to just feed him easy dunks over and over
assuming Wemby can more or less match AD's minutes (AD historically about a 35mpg player, Wemby last year was at 33), i dont see any reason Luke can't match Lively's minutes. lively has typically been a ~23mpg guy, but he's had plenty of games where he pushed 28-32 minutes. meanwhile, Korndog has averaged sub-20, but in the last 2 seasons, in games he's started, hes averaged about 29mpg anyway (sample size of 23 games), so he's capable, and not someone who typically get into foul trouble. and mavs dont have guards right now who are adept at drawing fouls the way Luka/Kyrie can
yeah the big thing will just be avoiding foul trouble. i think if wemby picks up even 1 quick foul, they need to bring on kornet to be the primary AD defenderGood point, so in theory the Spurs may not need to worry too much about matching the AD/Lively minutes with Wemby/Kornet--could be a great early test of the French Vanilla pairing
Holding Big Daddy Val hostage tbhYes...Wemby and Korndog better get ready...
Dallas and Houston both has their jumbo lineup....
Even Denver has this...
