Game Thread Spurs (0-0) @ Mavericks (0-0) (Wed 10/22/25) [8:30PM CDT]

So damn excited to see Wemby and the others in action. Still kinda sucks that Fox and (to a lesser extent) Sochan/Olynyk are out, but hopefully within a week or two we'll be able to see this team at full strength.

Hoping we get a Wemby statement game vs. Flagg.
 
That Spurs SL looks so small and weak next to that Dallas lineup. At some point size matters in the NBA unless you have exceptional talent, cohesiveness, shooting, defense etc. which I don’t think that SL has without Fox.

Hopefully im wrong but I’m expecting a double digit deficit midway through the first period before Kornet and the bench comes in and lineups look a bit better. Spurs claw their way back and make a game of it.
 
Pretty cool we get a #1 vs #2 rookie battle tonight at least indirectly.

i think we overrate preseason a bit here. 2 years ago in preseason we were waxint poetic about how our "big" lineup with point sochan, wemby, zollins had one of the best net ratings in the league.

last year in preseason champagnie also looked like a flamethrower (maybe not quite as hot as this year, but not far), and Harrison Barnes looked incredibly washed and useless

i dno how much stock the coaches put into a 4 game sample size, especially when teams are barely ramping up after like 1-2 weeks of practice after a long offseason

One of KJ/Vassell/Sochan will have a bad game and one will have a good game, it will come down to whether the third one has a good or bad game.

Shooting 60% from 3 in 5 preseason games will get you shoehorned into at least a look on opening day

we can hide Barnes on Lively. Wemby gonna go against AD. Vassell and Champagnie will have to make things tough for Flagg and Castle should be able to bully D-Lo. If we don’t get outrebounded this should be interesting.

It's gonna be Castle on Flagg and Vassell on Klay/D'Lo and vice versa.
 
I'm excited for tonight. Too bad Fox is still out, but glad we're getting meaningful Spurs basketball. Feelsnlike this offeason took forever.
 
Barnes on Lively would be lob city reincarnate and volleyball on the offensive glass.

They might live with him on Davis and dare starters not named Thompson to beat them from 3 while Wembanyama lurks as a help defender.

The rest seem straightforward: Castle on Flagg, Vassell on Thompson, Champagnie on Washington.

true hater mode is poopbox keeping a separate record for W-L without Sochan and posting it after every game. I mean, that’s next level… never seen folks this invested in hating a player since… Samanic.
 
Where to watch this game if i have o cable? I have leaguepass but ofcourse national televised game wont be available.
