Player Sochan's Extension Watch

Through 4 games and anyone noticed that Sochan is always sitting beside Fox on the bench with their street clothes? Fox's dressing is really low key. Sochan is much more flamboyant

:st-lol: We might have a new friendship forming

Sochan better be sucking up to our on ball creators, only buckets he can really get will be spoon fed from them.

Dude is 6’7 and ripped. Why does he need so much launch with his legs? Shouldn’t he have enough strength to simplify his shot and isolate it to fewer muscle movements? It’s wild for him to start that low.

I'm guessing it's something he and a shooting coach practiced. If I had to guess further it looks like that dip is actually a little pause for him to focus, likely to get his mechanics right.

I really really want a new shooting coach for the team. We have Harper and Castle. Spend $5 million for an actual reputable shooting coach please

You know sochan will play vs the heat and we will lose that game, then all blame will fall on sochan.

Can someone remind me - is Sochan’s current injury the same one that kept him out of EuroBasket, or a new one? Bc I didn’t recall that summer injury being talked about as a huge deal (but same with Fox’s hammy tbh)
It‘s new. He was set to return against NOLA I think and injured his wrist in a 5-on-5 workout right before his return.

We're not the only ones thinking Sochan not playing is actually a good thing for the team...

"He's bad", "He's not good at anything, "it's not a coincidence the Spurs had a good start with him out" :ROFLMAO:

1st, no they're not

2nd, only one of them, who's less politically correct said it, the other 2 were more diplomatic.
do you honestly believe they have seen more than 10 mins of spurs games? They would have noticed we're playing bismack biyombo and wemby for 35+ minutes. Also we keep having forwards go off on us, this team needs sochan badly.

His opinion was clearly not based on that game but the 2 past seasons

It's not had to imagine the handicap it'll be to have Sochan on offense anytime it's not in transition

We're already one of the lowest shooting 3s teams in the league (bottom 3) and it'll get worse with Sochan, who makes his living in the paint will push Wemby to the perimeter where he's doing the least damage.

Sochan needs a team with shooters to be really useful, and Spurs need and forward that can shoot. A trade needs to happen for the sake of both parties

I think we are missing Kornet waaay more than Sochan.
Yea we need rim protection more than wings stopper. Wing stopper we still can assign Castle, Keldon, Champ, CB. Rim protection is only left with Biyombo when Wemby is at the bench

Just held a high powered offense to 100 points and we “badly need” Sochan? It’s only become more and more apparent that we don’t need him whatsoever. If he could play backup C that would be more useful than his perimeter stuff, but he can’t. So there’s 100% no point to him and he’s only going to drag us down.

I've got a question for our Sochan truthers following this thread...

How do you explain/reconcile the fact that the best stretches of basketball our team has played in each year since drafting Wemby happened during extended absences by Sochan? Those stretches being April '24 and November '24. Could include this stretch taking place now as well, so 3 distinct winning periods that Sochan is on the sideline for in their entirety.

I'll admit I am curious to see how Jeremy looks this season. He is right in the age and experience range where significant improvement should be happening (if its going to happen). But I am also nervous that if it is more of the same that Mitch will still force feed him excessive minutes at the team's detriment.

I hope Jeremy just meshes perfectly into what we're doing (hard nosed, high effort defense first and foremost) and that he somehow developed a confident corner 3. His extended absence for what was supposedly a very minor injury(s) and inability to come to an agreement on an extension is making me wonder if something else is at play.

Game Theory pod is pretty much officially done with him based on the latest episode. This in itself isn’t big news but there are a shitload of eyes on this team now. There were no eyes on them for the last 2 years they’ve been doing make-a-wish with him. I think the power of friendship is officially dead. If you put a guy with an iffy reputation in the middle of a team on a heater like this, there will be too many questions for Mitch if the leash isn’t short enough.

Have you seen CB in action? He’s going to be a legit w/s shot blocker. He had more stocks (3.7) entering the draft than Flagg or Edgecomb. In the top 15, only Sorber (4.0) had more.

wembenyama playing time and weak opposition? haven't really looked deeply into it.

Spurs winning % with sochan is about 29% the last 2 years. 33 or so without, including the 20 games wemby didn’t play last year. So I’m interested in knowing how sochan is dragging the team down.

Definitely hard to say whether he's dragging them down... but he's certainly not done anything to make one think he makes them better.

There was a point last year when he missed some games that I observed that when he's out... I don't think of him at all. That might be the most damning thing for a player, to be just completely forgettable. Never once have I thought to myself "if only Sochan were playing tonight"
