Shams: FBI Grambling related arrests

Grambling sounds like serious business. Isn't that the Louisiana blacks-only school?
 
What does illegal gambling mean when the NBA is sponsored by gambling sites?
 
Shams is reporting that the Rozier investigation has been ongoing for 2 years and the Billups case is tied to illegal poker involving the mafia.

Almost all these players get involved in poker or gambling at some point. I’m hardly concerned about a private poker game but we’ll see.

They’re not going to arrest you just for playing in a private poker game. You did catch the mafia reference, right? Nothing they do is on the up and up.
 
That's crazy man. Chauncey taken into custody for illegal gambling activities. A head coach in the NBA damn! Supposedly 'only' illegal poker activities tied to organized crime. But when there's smoke there usually fire. When its organized crime usually all bets are off. This could run very deep. Very disappointing

I saw the reference and underground gambling and mafia is synonymous.

They arrest low hanging fruit all the time to use them as witnesses. High profile is a perfect arrest for that. He has something to lose.

I’ll wait for more information.
 
Judging by the Press conference it sounds like Chauncey is involved with the sport side of this as well. La Cosa Nostra ties as well... over 30 arrests so far apparently...

Games in the New York area were backed by the Bonanno, Gambino and Genovese crime families, according to the US attorney. Organizers enlisted NBA figures — including Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, who was arrested this morning — to sit at the table and help make the games appear legitimate to victims, according to law enforcement."
 
they say Billups is involved in some type of poker games with the mafia. Splitter is now the Blazers headcoach.
 
Both of these aren't new stories. They both have been implicated, only now it's breaking out as a big story.
