Wow, so this passed? I hadn't come into this thread for a while. The way some people were talking, I didn't expect it to pass. Great job to those of you that voted.

Wonder if Gina will continue a guerrilla war against this project and the Spurs? It's going to get built, but will she try to make it as difficult as possible and trying to extract concessions for her groups?

Apparently she started the night at the opposition's election party and ended it at the Spurs' celebration tbh.

By her public statement last night it sounds like she is going to get the fuck out of the way. KSAT saying the new arena could be ready in 2028.

:st-praise: Praise the people of San Antonio. Now the hard part, how do we make sure this doesn't turn into a huge bloated delayed disaster like every other major construction project ever in this country.

Yes she will.

The future of San Antonio is now in Peter J Holt’s hands. Let’s see how much he truly loves the city, or if this is all about greed as it usually is with rich people. The SS&E does a lot of community service so maybe there’s hope that they have good intentions for the city of San Antonio.

Fort Worth has year-round rodeo events and rakes in over a billion a year. The SA rodeo (routinely voted among the best in the nation) in a month brings in north of $330M a year. If it can bring in another $200M annually it'll be well worth it tbh.
I don't think San Antonio can support a year around rodeo but a second three week event might be able to pull the 200M you're talking about.

The state of commercial construction is really tough right now labor wise. Without diving into politics they’re going to have to figure out how to get enough labor to keep things from stalling out.
