Not to mention the Spurs (or any of the developmental partners) can cobble together the few million needed for this in their couch cushions, given how vital using the Alamodome parking likely is for the project as a whole.

This was the only thing that needed an actual vote since they city council can delegate funds without public approval for the city's portion of the project. That said, a lot more needs to go into planning and working out what gets done/who pays for what/etc. Should have plenty of chances for public input for topics like the land bridge and some of these other issues like the SAWS water cooling center.

I'm really curious what the economic lifespan of that water cooling center is as well. Given its what? 50 years old? Or more? I forget, odds are its near or past its economic lifespan to start with.

Naturally the anti Project Marvel crowd fucking ran with that, without actually knowing facts (since SAWS themselves have zero idea of cost)
 
Would've been cool if the Victoria Courts was still there next to the new arena for the lawls.

is just me or arena being ready for 2032-33 season a bit too far? Average construction time for these new modern arenas is 3-4 years, when are they supposed to break ground.?

Its what they could acquire basically with the least resistance.

Plus they had a FIRM deadline from Major League Baseball to have something rolling by January of this year. So you do what you have to do.

It could break ground as soon as next year if there was a need to, but they have a few years to still work out details. If they start by the beginning of 2028 it'll be ready by the time the Spurs' lease runs out in 2032. That said, the Spurs could easily stay another year at the Frost Bank Center if need be; the upgrades there should end up happening sooner and won't take nearly as long.

The new baseball stadium will at least be within walking distance of the Pearl/St. Mary's strip/Main St. at least tbh.

I could see the Spurs being in there by 2031 maybe for the start of the 2030-2031 season especially if they are managing construction. Really a matter of when they can get all things ironed out as I have zero doubt the plans are already essentially done.

I just want us to be there when we are smack deep in our contending years with Wemby so we can hopefully win at least ring in the new shiny digs.. 2031-32 season would be a nice target..

I'm cool with Austin getting two games a year tbh. Only hated it at first due to the implications that the Spurs were courting a move to Austin.

Always loved that tourists eating in the Tower of Americas spent 1/4 of the trip looking down at one of the worst housing projects in the city.
