Game Thread Playoffs Round 2, Game 1: Spurs vs Timberwolves (0-0) (Mon 05/04/2026) [8:30 CDT]

I don’t know why y’all are upset they didn’t call time out. Got a wide open look, just didn’t go in like a lot of wide open shots today. Hopefully Wemby and Fox play better offensively next game
My issue with the last call is all the players were expecting a timeout. It’s a miracle we got a clean look. Both Wemby and Harper clearly thought we would call timeout

Seriously though, that was probably the best shot they could have gotten. We’d all be gargling Champagnie’s balls if he made that LOL

Very unfortunate that Vic chose to have his worst 3-point slump in the opening game of the WCSF. 11 points is unacceptable, 12 blocks notwithstanding. I actually get the feeling that Minny is purposefully challenging Vic to tire him out eventually, leading him to be lazy and lackadaisical on offense.

Fox has to be better, Castle has to be more disciiplined.

I'd have rather gone for an easier 2 and get to overtime. Feel like our chances are better than 40% if we come back and tie at the end of regulation. Wolves would have been completely shook.
Especially when you can take it to the hole with impunity. We made minnesotas d look a lot better than it was.

You can’t ask for a better shot at the buzzer for Julian. Give Minnesota credit, they punched San Antonio in the mouth. We know who needs to improve to make it a series.

Damn that was a good Champ look, wonder if Dylan was too gassed to take it to the basket, looked like he might have had a drive
time was running out.If he drives it and pump fakes,Time runs out.He made a good pass that got us a decent look at least.

Spurs didn't lose the game on the last shot... that was all Fox and Wemby on the offensive end. Barnes and Kornet being borderline unplayable also didnt help with Bryant out. Vassell on Randle was a terrible decision.
If the game plan for Victor is for him to get shoved out to the three-point line, get the ball and then immediately give it up. Yeah, I’d say we are fucked.

But I expect him to play extremely well on Wednesday

sure... except you didn't need a 3 and you have a 7-5 franchise player to rely on
The same guy who was ass on offense tonight? Or maybe his sidekick who was equally ass tonight on that side of the ball? Was he gonna save us? Or maybe Steph... oh wait he fouled out.

As soon as Ant came back, it was going to be a hard series. I still think Spurs can back door sweep. They saw more adjustments in half than the entire Blazers series. Plus our stars really shot flat tonight. It's playoff basketball gents.

And this defensive scheme of leaving someone wide open and daring them to shoot can't work if the guy left wide open is a 38% career 3pt shooter that has more than a 100 playoff games under his belt.

Borderline sick to my stomach. Just an incredibly frustrating loss for a ton of reasons.

Well, this will be by far the most pressure this team has faced heading into game 2. Let’s see what they’re made of.

Man. I wanted a timeout, but that was a good look. I wanted Dylan to shoot it, though. I thought Dylan was feeling it and was the guy to shoot it.
After Champ had made ALL those game winning plays that showed he was locked in and had the will to win? No, Champ was the guy. I don’t know how you would think otherwise

Man, respect on the interview from Anthony Edwards. Real respect from me on his being critical of himself at the end there. Calling himself out for giving up two offensive rebounds to Champ and also turning the ball over.
I can't even be mad at the Wolves because I like the way they play. Edwards didn't force anything and integrated himself nicely into a team that found a rhythm without him.
