Game Thread Playoffs Round 2, Game 1: Spurs vs Timberwolves (0-0) (Mon 05/04/2026) [8:30 CDT]

Wemby’s passive play on offense was my biggest concern. He didn’t shoot a single FT until it was almost over. Then two stupid TOs from Fox in the second half turned the tide against us. Everyone else was fine. We need CB to cover their PF geez

It took them 42 minutes to figure out what was obvious af in the first half. I’ve not been this disappointed in this team all year. They had a week off to plan for this and they looked completely unprepared.

Part of that comes with an inexperienced staff and players but man they had that game away. Eve at the end not calling a time out is a bad idea down two at home. I know you don’t want a set defense but this team is not experienced and needed a play imo. The shot was ok but I still don’t like it.

Couldn't ask for a better look than that tbh.

Story of the night unfortunately, 3 wasn't falling and Vic/Fox were really bad offensively.

Let's get Game 2 and regroup.

The wolves made one adjustment, take Gobert out, and the Spurs had no counter.

Wemby was super soft. You can’t wait until there’s two minutes left in the game to play with some force.

Julian got a somewhat open look, that's better than whatever Mitch would have drawn up, he just missed.

I'd have rather gone for an easier 2 and get to overtime. Feel like our chances are better than 40% if we come back and tie at the end of regulation. Wolves would have been completely shook.

Good loss.
Meaning that it’s good that the spurs loss. They almost stole a win but minny was better throughout the game.

Spurs will need to learn from it and make adjustments and simply play better.

And Wemby please stop shooting 3’s

It was pretty bad today. I saw signs of it in Game 5 against Portland too. Hopefully its not mental.

Nah, it was the right call. Did you really want to set up against that defense? We got the right shot at the end, just didnt go in.
Yes I want to set up against their defense. Their defense was good but this teams bad decisions took it up to another level. We did ourselves absolutely no favors.

I don’t know why y’all are upset they didn’t call time out. Got a wide open look, just didn’t go in like a lot of wide open shots today. Hopefully Wemby and Fox play better offensively next game

There's nothing I hate more than these idiotic vibe coaches that "let the guys play it out".
For fucks sake we don't have Lebron or CP3 on the roster, you don't fucking play it out.

I'm going into a 48h basketball isolation, this game killed my motivation for everything. Not because of the loss, but because I have flashbacks to senile Pop actively losing us games.
It's easy to see the similarities, because it was Mitch coaching those games.

Minny in 6 tbh.
Come on, I know it was a tough loss, but how can you guys just give up already. It's going to be tough, and I say some silly shit in the game, but I still fight. Do you guys just give up in real life?
Edit : Like I may say some things that seems so at times, but I don't usually toss it in. Tough loss. Gonna be tough from here on out.

It was the right call not calling a timeout. If Champ hits that 3, everybody is calling Mitch a genius for his situational awareness.
I’m not. I thought it was ridiculous to not call timeout, I think there was like 8 seconds. A chance to draw something up and advance the ball. Egregious non timeout

Im fine with the non-timeout. The one knock I have on Mitch this game is why Vic kept shooting all those 3s. Does he not have the authority/balls to go at him?

Cant blame Mitch much on Fox selling the game tbh.
