Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 5: Spurs vs Blazers (3-1) (Tue 04/28/2026) [8:00 CDT]

And for people who hate on Kawhi: The Spurs were going nowhere with him in 2018/2019 anyway as the supporting cast was putrid post-DPG, and without Kawhi leaving we never get to draft Wemby, Castle, and Harper. Part of him leaving was wanting to play in his hometown for some years, which he did, but another part was he didn't want to be part of a sinking ship/rebuilding team and trading him was mandatory for the tank.
Ahh sorry, but I've gotta step in on this one. What are you on about? The Spurs could have won the Championship in 2017 before he got Zaza'd. The reason the Spurs were also a rebuilding team a couple of years later was because he screwed them over.

still remember that Shaq's excuse for being a piss poor free throw shooter were that his hands were too big
I don't think Shaq was totally wrong, but I think it was a combination of his arms and hands. Kawhi and MJ have already disproved the big hands thing, so if people believed Shaq, I don't know why nobody used MJ as an example to disprove that since MJ was a decent shooter who had big hands (not sure how they compare to Shaq's size wise). Anyway, I am guessing the ball would have felt very light to him. Anyone ever heard of a sport called Netball? I've shot the ball a bit and it's weird. The ball is smaller than a basketball and lighter. The distance you shoot is also shorter, but it's harder shooting that ball from a couple of meters out compared to a basketball from the same distance as it's smaller and lighter. I think the hoop is also smaller diameter. That's probably what a basketball felt like to Shaq, but maybe even lighter, so not that easy to shoot from distance with.

Having said all that, I don't know what it's like to be Shaq's size and how it would feel shooting the ball with his arms, hand size and strength. Plus, for all I know, as usual, he could be full of shit and making that up to cover up for his poor shooting. I don't believe what that guy says at least half of the time.

shaq's excuses never held up. he just didnt work on FTs enough. i dont care how many practice attempts he took if he kept taking the same stupid one handed shots over and over again

Shaq runs his mouth in a single day more than he practiced anything his entire career.

You really have no idea how it works?
I'm supposed to bet big to win big while you can also win big while making the safest possible bet?
Your betting logic is on the level of your opening posts.
I’m 11-2 on opening posts. Perhaps a different analogy?

I think the last game was awfully demoralizing for the Blazers. Like extremely so.
Yeah, they have vets (Jrue, Dame who'll provide some locker room pep talk) but besides a hearty run or two mid-game I think the Spurs will blow it wide open by halftime and then it's San Antone fiesta all the way.
Of course I might just be fucking jinxing it but you know how I -

Coaches don’t play around in the playoffs. I was watching the game with some friends, and someone said where’s CB? I thought back to the last time he was on the court, and he committed a really dumb, really obvious offensive foul with a forearm shiver. He didn’t get back in until Mitch pulled the starters with about 2 minutes left.
Thanks for jogging the memory. Saw that okay and forgot it; then kept wondering why Maestro didn't put him back in.
