Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 2: Spurs vs Blazers (1-0) (Tue 04/21/2026) [7:00 CDT]

His value in a future trade has nothing to do with his role now or making him look good. He is here to be a steadying force for the young players and help the team win now and not about increasing his future trade value with stats.
I'm not talking about right now, I'm talking like 6 months before the front office plans to trade him, if they ever do. I'm saying that because he went from a 26 PPG player at Sacramento to 19 PPG for the Spurs, with good reason cuz his role evolved, but for many stupid owners, that would predictably lower his perceived value in a potential trade especially given his contract.

all the talk about the spurs in the last 24 hours has been about the unanimous DPOY stuff. all the talk about portland for the last 24 hours has been about El Cheapo

fully expect the blazers players to be locked in and come out strong tbh

Gonna be interesting to see what kind of adjustments both coaches will make and how the team will answer to it. Other than a solid game 1 the positive has been to have victor playing normal mn vs. the 45 mn jokic and Murray played. Spurs have this card on hand on a tough day they can increase victor load to 5 or 6 mn easily. Hopefully we can go through blaz with 30-35 mpg victor… as I said before I think spurs sweep but Portland will make some adjustments as min did against Denver, let’s see how the team will handle it

Tiago has his hands full. His big adjustment to the Suns was the small lineup that forced the Suns to match and opened the paint. When they tried that in game 1 Wemby just and the guards just destroyed it. Maybe he can try to go small exclusively when Kornet subs in and see if a matchup there can get something going?

Otherwise I don't see much they can do that the Spurs can't easily counter. It'll just come down to shooting and rebounds. If Portland can't win the rebounding they're not going to win

It would be hilarious if Dame demanded another trade this offseason before even suiting up for them again :st-lol:
Would make more sense for the owner to cajole Dame into being head coach since he's not doing anything. Who among us would not leap at an ethical opportunity to pocket an extra million dollars?

Or maybe they're thinking "should I really take this charge when that fucker isn't going to pay me on my next contract?"

Couple of bad shooting games in a row now for Steph. Would love to see him snap out of the mini slump tbh.

What a cheap bastard. If you are going to make the choice to own a professional sports franchise then splurge on your players, coaches, team staff, and fans. Also, encourage community involvement from everyone in the organization. Become 1 with the city the way the Spurs have.

I would never buy a franchise unless I had the disposable capital to run it correctly.
