Game Thread Playoffs Round 1, Game 2: Spurs vs Blazers (1-0) (Tue 04/21/2026) [7:00 CDT]

Why buy a team if you were going to be so cheap? Wonder what he has planned for the future of that team.

I mean it's a pretty damn good investment. He's already tried to shake down Portland for taxpayer funded renovations to the arena which would boost the team's value immediately.

Trim the fat and make sure you're maximizing profit every year, wait 15 years for your 4billion dollar investment to grow 2x-4x then sell. Pretty sweet deal to be a cheap ass billonaire tbh.

True, I get all that. It just coming off as not really caring about your fans (shirts-might be a small thing but still something fans will notice) and team (team reporter, 2 way players, coach salary) leaves a bad look in my opinion. I would think you'd want those involve in whatever capacity of the team to think you're "all in" even though your intentions is really want is in your post.

Not to mention the damage that is being done to the credibility/reputation of the franchise. Agents (for players and coaches) will steer their guys away from a cheapskate team. Whoever is named their permanent coach is going to immediately be known as the dollar menu coach in the NBA deserved or not.

Looks like he wouldn't even allow the team masseuse a hotel room :st-lol:. This guy's a clown. Never should've sold to him tbh.

He reminds me of a modern day Donald Sterling with his cheapness minus the racism. Sterling was also super cheap like this guy in every aspect from player salaries to training staff to people who worked simple jobs for the Clippers. I remember hearing Elton Brand once saying Sterling was so cheap that the Clippers didn't pay for his rehab and sent him to the YMCA to rehab in a pool lol.

I live in NC and this guy owns the hockey team Carolina Hurricanes. From what I have heard from Hurricane fans is that he's invested in the Hockey team and is willing to go all out for them when it comes payroll. The Hurricanse are one of the elite teams in the NHL from what I have been told.

This guy I believe doesn't care about basketball and sees the Blazers as a passive investment.

Deni has a really great contract
That would have allowed to build a good team around him

Not anymore with a cheap owner

@BatManu20 bout to go 16-0 this offseason in GTs mark my words.

With the Nuggets loss last night we have the opportunity to finish this series quick and get some extra rest while those two beat each other up. Would love to see Wemby keep the pressure up, as other pointed in the G1 thread, Portland has no answers to throw at him.

Is there a decent board for the Blazers? I would like to know what their fans are thinking.

This guy looks like the next Donald Sterling -- the fan who hits the half court shot may have to sue to get his money.

The Spurs should be wooing Avdija when the time comes (if they can afford).

They definitely can't afford Deni lol. He's on a great contract 2 more years and then he'll likely get a Max Deal from Portland (assuming their goofball owner doesn't low-ball him too). Either way, he's going to get paid max money by someone in a couple years.

Spurs already have their core big money players on the roster with Wemby, Castle, and Harper (and Fox...for now). That's our big 3. Now it's just a matter of developing them and keeping the supporting cast around those 3 stacked up for the foreseeable future and replacing role guys like Devin, Champ, Kornet, Barnes, etc. as needed.
