The last time I felt an owner was so fucking clueless was ranadive when he bought the Kings, thinking they could run the cherry picker offense from hid daughters youth team.
The NHL is an owners league. They beat their players into submission long ago. The NBA is a players league. He will ultimately sell the team when things continue to not go his way. He thinks he’s going to change the world, show the other owners that you can run a team on the cheap, and still win. He’s the one that’s going to learn the lesson. He won’t be able to hire a decent coach, and whoever he hires won’t have the respect of the players. They’ll know he was hired to meet budget, not because he’s any good.
The one thing he just doesn’t understand is that you don’t necessarily make money year over year in the NBA, you make money by increasing the value of your franchise, then selling for multiple times the amount you bought for.
