With all due respect to Mr @KobesAchilles... was anyone in our community actually buying those summer workout videos? Maybe over on Reddit, but it seems like we've all remained extremely skeptical. I'd even say that BaselineBums overall has the most realistic sentiment (what outsides might perceive as negative) on Sochan. Seems like the overwhelming consensus was not to extend and that no one was believing in the Instagam Shooter.
Mainly a Spurstalk thing where I brought up that the type of workout Sochan was doing over the summer was completely useless to him. And how him changing his shot every year isn’t conducive to him learning how to shoot. Mmky and Mr. Body were all over me for that

I mean it’s one thing if Sochan got scammed by these “gurus” but it’s another for the Spurs to let it happen. Seriously, either start right in front of the rim and learn a proper goose neck and stop taking short cuts OR double down on it like Shawn Marion and just learn how to shoot incorrectly

I had a similar thread on ST about Victor 3 point tracker... fascinating stuff tbh.. from 5.5 first year to 9 second year to 4 this year with the last game at 9. For me pre season and firts RS games were odd in that regard, the passing up so many 3s is not what Victor is inclined to do.. result most likely of his summer work out with Hakeem and KG. Like all in life a balance needs to be find from dat 2 attempts per game to 9 / 10 as we have seen, I believe Victor game needs a healthy amount of 3s attempts

After a blistering start to the season for Sochan, Game 4 finally saw him come back down to earth for a heat check.

3s made: 0-1
For the season: 1 three made.

In just 6 minutes of play Jermey Sochan found scorched earth mode and hit all his 3 point attempts.

Game 5: 1 for 1 on 3s
Season total: 2

Tbh I’m gonna stop doing this thread bc at this point it’s just bullying him. I wish the kid luck on his future team and I hope he develops confidence on his shot one day
6/7 from deep loading...

My question is if he wasn’t going to take any 3s then why did he spend all offseason only working on threes. If the dude had a floater or a hook shot or a 12 foot push shot even he could still be useful on offense.

But he put all his eggs in one basket (taking 3s) and now refuses to shoot them

We saw a few minutes of him dicking around. Who knows what his summer looked like. Might have done jack shit. Might have spent 10 hours a day practicing catch and shoot, but he just put the kewl stuff online.

Nobody who said “he’s putting in work” had evidence that he was putting in work beyond whatever’s normal for a pro athlete.

He probably practiced a lot of 3’s and kept finding that he couldn’t find his fine touch or fine muscle control so he keeps missing.

It's not even his shooting that is the main problem now. He looks out of sorts and with little confidence. He plays on vibes typically, in my opinion.

After he drained that 3 (effortlessly! lol) he still didn't get any extra burn.

Not worth it with the low volume he's taking.
And they are almost always either desperation shots, or shots where they straight up just leave him open.

Opponents will live with him taking the shot even if he makes it (especially to the tune of one a game)

This is how I see it too. He obviously cares and puts in a lot of effort...but he's not a cerebral player. He just tries really hard, which sometimes has good results and sometimes looks like a bull in a china shop.

He was fine when we were tanking games, but now that we are trying to build a cohesive unit and flow, he no longer fits. Granted, I also happen to think his defense is overrated for the very same reasons I mentioned earlier.

Pretty sure Sochan banged Shmurs’ girlfriend, mother and his pet dog.

Mom jokes. Very impressive post. Very talented poster.

I don't want to get into a habit of defending Sochan, but this is awfully presumptuous. Just because we only saw videos of Sochan shooting 3s doesn't mean that's all he worked on all offseason (though I'll also say that aside from being in great physical shape, whatever he worked on doesn't appear to be working)

I mean how long does it take to develop a floater or a 12 footer or even a hook shot. That shit shouldn’t take 4 years. Dude likes to show boat. If he was working on those things during the offseason we would’ve seen some proof of it.
I remember DJ posting his dribbling drills on IG (heck even Castle). Athletes love to post what they’re working on. Clearly Sochan wasn’t working on those things bc he still can’t do them

He still can't shoot either... so...

I know but he posts videos of him shooting so I know he atleast works on that. My point is athletes who post stuff typically post stuff on what they are working on. And if Sochan was working on any of that we would’ve seen it at some point.

I thought he looked good in the second half last night (bad in the first tho).

I think he should have played more at the end of this last game to be honest. We needed some better perimeter defenders with Fox dissociating out there.

Also, I'd like to see the Zapruder film of Jeremy's last three-point shot because it actually looked pretty good from what I saw.

Yes, yes, I admit he doesn't have a great feel for the game and he's a limited player right now. But I think he needs to lean in to sort of being a defensive stopper goon who ideally can make a three-point shot if he's left alone. Or maybe that's all he has been reduced to at this point.

Regardless, I thought he could have at least been subbed in for defense on certain possessions at the end of that last GS game.

Mitch always go with the starters for closing min in a tight game tbh

We know he can’t play in crunch time though. We see what happens. He ends up getting the last shot because he isn’t guarded. So he can’t be on the court. Mitch was good on this one.

And the tie breaker always goes to offense. I didn’t make the rules.

Silver did. Sochan would’ve done very well in the 90s and early 00s as a role player. But in today’s game, if you can’t shoot and are smaller a Center than your chances of being a rotation player are slim
