in his second season (the point sochan year), he started the season by making 42% of his 3's through the first 18 games (until end of november) and people thought he had figured it out then too.
glad to see he's at least shortened the delivery somewhat, but going to want to see a larger sample size than 13 attempts over 8 games before really believing he's turned the corner. with that said, the second make against memphis at the end of that video was a really quick release. not quite the batum no-dip shot, but its clear its something that's been worked on
so far 6 of his 7 three point makes have come from the corner. and frankly, that's all he really needs. he doesnt need to be able to shoot it from all over. take the bruce bowen/pj tucker route. learn the one corner shot. same release, same distance every time. all he has to do is make sure he has to be guarded from there. the more defenders feel the need to guard him, the more that would open up cut opportunities as well
in the first 3 seasons of his career, only 31% of his 3PA came from the corner, and he was only making 28% of those looks. so far this season, 61.5% of his 3PA have come from the corner and he has converted 62.5% of those.
during his spurs career, bruce bowen took over 80% of his 3PA from the corner and he made 42.5% of those. PJ tucker is the more modern posterchild for being a designated corner shooter as a primary defender, and for his career he took 75% of his 3PA from the corner and made 38.4% of those
