Trade Official 2025-2026 Trade Deadline Thread

That is an interesting question though. Could they void the remaining contract to kawhi next year?
Voiding the contracts seems like it's letting the Clippers off easy. Kawhi should be suspended for the duration of the contract, with the Clippers paying all that money to the league to be divided amongst the other owners (or even better, donated to a charity... maybe one that plants trees). The Clips and Kawhi should be given the harshest of punishments here, but the trouble is how it inadvertently rewards OKC and PHI. OKC has this year's pick as we know, but they also have swap rights next year, and then PHI has LAC28 and a swap on LAC29.

Maybe the hold up on this investigation is Silver trying to find a balance between punishing the Clippers while not disproportionately rewarding the Thunder and Sixers.

If the Clippers want a clean cap sheet for 2027 (when Kawhi's current contract has ended), not giving Harden another contract absolutely makes sense for them. If Garland is reasonably healthy, they still have a good chance of at least getting to the playoffs this season. They also could try and trade Garland for draft assets down the line, or they might plan on retooling around him and Zubac plus maybe another star after 2027.
The Clippers should probably just look to trade Kawhi too, except no one is going to touch that ticking time bomb (the looming suspension or his knee), no matter how amazing he's been this year.

The only fair outcome in all this would be forcing the ownership to sell the franchise and banning the entire front office from the league. Nephew obviously needs to get suspended.
But it's Ballmer and it won't happen.

Taking away years of their picks would serve no purpose, it would destroy a franchise that's already in a bad position asset wise. Might aswell relocate the team if that's the punishment.

I hope that's the holdup on this. I'd love to see the clips punished, but not reward okc/Philly. I'm not sure how the 2nd part is accomplished though.

As a College Graduate in Forestry, I love the planting tree part for the benefit as well as the irony 😀

Can't away any picks if we don't have any

A billionaire/one of the richest men in the world facing accountability is unfortunately not gonna start with the NBA tbh. :st-lol:

With all these speculations, I kinda want to see spurs trade for Jarret Allen for the fuck of it

Raptors are trying to trade Spurs legend Jakob Poeltl, but nobody wants him even with a first round pick attached. Has anybody seen that contract? 19.5/19.5/27.3/29.5/27.3 sheesh:st-shocked:

Final year isn't fully guaranteed, but it's still terrible considering he's already 30.
Apparently he has back issues, which are always a death sentence for big men.

BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr., John Konchar, Jock Landale and Vince Williams Jr. to the Utah Jazz for Walter Clayton Jr., Kyle Anderson, Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang and three future first-round picks, sources tell ESPN.

I'll go with Occam's razor and say it's just about money. Clippers see no reason to pay Harden an $80 million contract. Harden could give a shit about winning or the situation the team is in if the money is still green.
the sticky situation is harden isn't extension eligible, and clippers making any "agreement" to give him another contract would be a violation of league rules and LAC are already at least in some hot water over the fake trees

The Utah Jazz are trading their most favorable 2027 first-round pick (Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah), the Lakers' 2027 first-round pick, and Phoenix's 2031 first-round pick to Memphis, source says, to pry Jaren Jackson Jr. from the Grizzlies.
That's...cheap?
