Trade Official 2025-2026 Trade Deadline Thread

Wizards were supposed to have close to 100m cap space next year. Filled it with Young and Davis.

Trades are the new Free Agency.

Mavs are about to deploy the best asset from this trade: tank commander Malaki Branham, with years of experience in that role.
Silver will probably gift them another top5 pick, tbh.

Wizards seem to believe that there is no talent in the 2027 draft that will lift their team. So they are pushing all their chips onto the 2026 draft and getting Davis and Young so that they can compete along with Sarr, Keshawn George, Bub Carrington, Coulibaly and a premium talent from the 2026 class (jackpot if its either of Dybantsa, Peterson or Boozer). And maybe flip Davis for a pick later.

OKC now gets a good 3-point shooter on a bargain contract. McCain has fallen off a cliff this season, but averaged 15 PPG the season prior. He should be able to get back to that level.

They will also have to waive somebody to create a roster spot.

edit: they are trying to trade Dieng

I already hated Jared McCain. Now that he's in an OKC uniform my hatred will know no bounds.

McCain started out super hot last season but has been pretty bad this year. Likely just not a great player, but OKC gets a chance to try him out.

He had a knee surgery last year, Presti probably thinks he can get him back on the right track.
Topic is probably done after his cancer situation.

McCain has been awful this year. He probably got 20 games or so to show something in OKC before being buried on the bench.

Is he playing tonight? Would be great for us if he was :st-lol:
he's now the first defensive liability on their roster. Gotta attack him everytime if he plays.

got 2.5 years left on his rookie contract. They definitely overpaid here.
OKC salary cap crunch starts next year paying JDUB Chet and SGA 40 mil a piece. After next year it gets REALLY crazy when SGA average salary is 70 mil a season. No way they going to be able to keep all their other guards so somebody like McCain is exactly the type of player they are going to have to go for unless ownership is willing to eat that second apron tax money.

NBA salaries are really getting insane. With the way the cap is rising if Wemby was to get to a second super max contract with the spurs it would legit start averaging out around mid 80 million a season and his player option year might legit be more than 100 million by itself that season.
