NBA NBA All-Star weekend, February 13th-15th, Intuit Dome, LA

TD should have had about 4-5 MVPs IMO, but even though he won two, I doubt he ever put MVP over winning championships.

The Spurs are trying to look at his longevity. I don't know if it's the right approach or not. I'm more worried about the playoffs and stamina in the playoffs. I'd play him more minutes (around 32-33, and certain games might give him a bit more 4th quarter minutes and not stick to the same substitution pattern all the time) to try and build his stamina more, but I really don't know what the right approach is. I see what the Spurs are trying to do by limiting his minutes. Maybe it is the right way to go.
But not on a young wemby. if wemby is 33-34 years old then i understand the load management on him.

He had no chance after 2005 because pop started trimming down his minutes to 33mpg and then 29mpg starting 2010-2011 season to make his career longer.

so Nash’s regular season MVPs are worth more than Duncan’s finals MVPs got it lmao 😹😹😹
Duncan got his finals mvp’s during his MVP days , playing heavy minutes and when he was considered one of the best players if not the best player in the league. 99-05

What I am saying is, I don't think TD cared about any single MVP he won to put it over any of the Championships he won.

It wasn’t the format or length of games. It was like Ant said, it was Wemby giving a shit that made them play hard. Players have ego. If they are out there and someone is giving a shit they are going to play harder bc they don’t want to be shown up. You will always have players who play limited minutes or are don’t care but most do. That’s why the games in the past were more competitive. Magic and bird cared. Then Jordan did. Then Kobe did. Then LeBron didn’t and it went downhill. Hopefully Wemby will make people show up

As an NBA player I'd rather have Finals MVP tbh. Means I'd also have a ring.
League MVP = best in the league.
Finals MVP best player in hyped 7 game series.

I rate it like this inorder of importance to greatness.

Championship ring( superstars/franchise player should be the one carried the team)
League MVP
Finals MVP
All NBA First team
Any other individual awards like rookie of the year,DPOY,MIP,etc..
All defensive 1st team
All nba 2nd team and 3rd team
All defense 2nd team

Wemby worked up quite a few sweat. Thanks god no injuries to anyone, otherwise they might really scrap the ASG as no one will damn well compete after seeing injuries in ASG.

I think the former players and media will endorse and acknowledge Wemby as the face of the league after his effort to save the ASG. Now Wemby just need to win the title for his official coronation.

Why do people have to be always so black and white? Life isn't black and white, folks, it is all shades of colours. Both aspects contributed to the games being competitive: Wemby setting the tone and the games being shorter.

Thats a fair assessment. That being said, not everybody wins a championship. It’s hard to do and take a boatload of luck. You can’t really control winning a championship as an individual. You can help obviously but TD was at his peak in 00-03 and he only won once.

But you can control the amount of hard work and effort and dedication to your skill and craft you put in to becoming a league MVP. So while championships I’m sure feel better, MVPs aren’t anything to sneeze at. It adds to the tiers. Like Timmy having 2 MVPs vs Shaq and Kobes 1 MVP means something legacy wise. Charles winning his MVP in 93 means more than Draymond winning 4 as a role player. There’s levels and Draymond is NOT on Charles Barkleys level even with his championships.

Imagine if Kawhi could talk like that, he would the league and not lebron hahahahaha

for a moment there, i was schocked, thought the real thing

Last year's AS weekend was Castle's coming out party. This year the Spurs as a whole were a big topic everywhere. This league needs the Spurs. Let's Go!
yep. castle was rising stars MVP, really showed out in the dunk contest, and then by virtue of being in the winning rising stars squad, was also able to participate in the ASG itself (along with wemby making his all star debut). and we also had wemby/cp3 in the skills challenge making headlines due to controversy.

then this year we had harper making a game winner over his brother in the rising stars came (and bryant being a bit player on the winning team), bryant being one of the few bright spots in a shitty dunk contest, and then wemby being the story of the all star game itself.

spurs are becoming box office. just need a legit 3pt participant so we can make headlines in every event. who knows maybe they let wemby fuck around next year :st-lol:
