Yes, so… when a thing has positives and negatives and only the positives are highlighted, that’s called glamorization.

As far as I know, no team has had a night to celebrate drinking itself or a night to celebrate… hotels.

To be fair... teams have dollar beer night and the Spurs have a "beer fest" night coming up... as someone who has made a living in the alcohol business... I'm against these too, as I don't believe they promote responsible consumption.

In any event... I promise I am not trying to have the last word but it's probably best we try to stay away from the deeper nuances of the topic and instead keep the discussion limited to Kornet's involvement (which is mostly just that he's against the idea).

I’d say this has veered off topic. We are here to talk about korndog with one basketball, not korndog stuck between two

Agreed. I don't know whether Kornet is a Christian conservative/MAGA, but this reeks of behavior befitting of them.
Yeah countdown until stories come out about him chasing Sochan around the locker room with a Bible

Spurs just being charming soft mermaids per par, no nasty to them

2nd round fodder ceiling

You bet your ass ima bump this after spurs get eliminated in 6 in round 2 with kornhun posting a 2/4/1/0 -5 series line

His on-court net rating is actually positive for this season. His on/off is negative - but that's mostly on him being the back-up for one of the best players in the league.

I don't agree with Kornet's opinion (or those expressed by most of the folks in this thread) , but I think Luke stayed firmly on the correct side of the line by making a post on his personal blog. I also don't think Beadle reacting is out of line, but she has a history of grandstanding when she feels like she's in the right, which ultimately cost her her ESPN job.

I also think like Collins before him, Kornet is dealing with opponents attacking him a ton and making him look worse than he is. Players are so scared of Wemby that they feel desperate to attack the paint when Victor is not on the floor. There's also a legit stereotype against white players in the NBA where players assume they're bad or unathletic defenders. This means players attack them with more confidence and thus have more success. Obviously, Kornet is a more sound defender than Collins, but those two factors sort of flatten their impact. Also, I don't know that Luke benefits from Wemby playing three or four stints in a half rather than just two like many other starters. Luke looked pretty good when Victor was out, and a possible explanation for that is that he got consistent burn where he could settle into the game.

Feels like he's been in a bit of a funk since this Magic City thing came down. I imagine he probably wasn't expecting the attention it received, and how much of it was negative towards him. Anyway, seems like he's in his own head a bit at the moment.

Maybe I'm missing it but he's been just fine to me. Maybe looks a little tired out there but we are late in the season so makes sense. Hopefully he gets some rest before the playoffs.

But teams are playing him closer to take away the lob, makes sense that his stats are down a bit. Been real solid still tbh.

I'm not having major buyer's remorse or anything (I still think his contract is solid), but for the first couple of months of the season he was looking like legitimately the best backup big in the league. Think his level of play since returning from injury has been a noticeable step down from what we saw to start the year.

Yeah, I guess I'm not just seeing the "noticeable step down." He's still been a great rim protector and solid on the other end. I haven't looked at the advanced metrics but just from the eye test, he's looked fine to me.

I think we're just seeing the results of him being pushed into career high minutes without anyone behind him to cut him any slack. Biyombo's charity spot is roster malpractice not because we need our third-string C to be a world beater, but because it allows guys like Kornet to get a little bit of a break as they get worn down.

The FO left little margin for error - but the emergence of CB has given us some breathing room at the wing, and hopefully the signing of Plumlee does the same at C.

Kornet is a career journeyman for most part, don't be all too surprised if there is sudden falloff...What we have seen the past few weeks is quite alarming.

Spurs need to schedule “All-Stars Saturday” in a cross promotion between Wemby, Fox and the entertainers of All-Stars, that’s the only way to get Luke out of this funk.

Luke has always struggled against the league's top centers, especially the physical ones. Hopefully this is an eye-opener for the front office to prioritize the addition of quality big men and big wings in the offseason.

It does *seem* like he's a bit slower for some reason, but he wasn't ever a gazelle out there either. His minutes have been gradually dropping over the course of the season, and he's had a difficult March. FG% is way down. He was feasting on Castle lobs for awhile, and making some splashy plays, which probably affects the eye test, too. After all, he has fewer minutes to make memorable plays. But though he may be a bit 'off' lately, I don't think he's changed that much as a player, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him have some big games in the playoffs for us. Probably match-up dependent more than anything.
