NBA Kawitters Legacy taking another hit

So is Silver going to do anything? Because it doesn't sound like any real punishment is going to happen here

"Kawhi Leonard? What about him? Oh, the investigation? Yes, of course - we have top people working on that! We will have a full report on it, but these things take time and we want to give them the opportunity to be as thorough as possible. We should be able to wrap this up by 2028 - early 2029 at the latest."

People expecting an internal investigation like this to wrap up in two weeks are insane. If you want severe consequences for Ballmer/LAC/Kawhi, you want a lengthy and thorough investigation so the league can stand by doing its due diligence properly. That's why they hired Wachtel (who'll want to bill the hell out of this anyway). Wachtel will start with document requests, which will most likely be negotiated by the Clippers' attorneys. They'll review those and likely go back to the well, asking for more. Then will come witness interviews. Then a report. That is a process that will take months at least. Plus, there is no urgency in getting this done yesterday anyway.

Silver very well may do nothing. I have no idea about that. But just because he hasn't banned Kawhi in two weeks time does not mean nothing will happen.

Many of the documents are already available through the BK filing. The only hold up would be on emails and text messages, but the documentary evidence alone is damning enough. DONALD STERLING WAS BANNED FOR LIFE FOUR DAYS AFTER THE NBA STARTED INVESTIGATING HIM.

Patience, people!

The Sarver investigation took 10 months. This is a more complex situation. I'm wishing for closure on this before the playoffs, but, that's highly unlikely. I expect next summer or pre-season to be the final verdict on this, if not later.

You got the 1000th post on the site. Congrats

I didn't think it would be announced already but Silvers been interviewed about the issue a couple times and based on his responses it sounds unlikely that any severe punishment is going to happen at all

I think this is less complicated than the Sarver racism & sexual abuse thing. It's a simple logic puzzle: why would Aspiration pay Kawhi ten times more than it paid Leo DiCaprio, then require him to do no work? Why would there be no announcement about Kawhi's endorsement deal? Forgetting the 1st investment, why would Ballmer & Wong invest and additional $12 million into a company that wasn't making payroll and had no customers or future contracts? Why would the former COO, CIO, CLO and CTO of said company declare in writing that the deal was a salary cap circumvention if it wasn't true?

If you don’t dot the Is and cross the Ts, you wind up in court. I do agree with one YouTuber who said Silver should have simply said “It’s being investigated”, and said nothing else.

The Clippers didn't file for Chapter 11.

The amount of hate those two dipshits are getting is fabulous. Nothing would please me more than to see them broke and destitute 10 years from now.

Pablo seems to have a treasure trove of incriminating evidence that he just keeps dripping. I hope that Wachtell et al can quickly access these documents and verify their validity. I'm not familiar with legal protocol in such matters involving journalistic discoveries. Ballmer, Kawhi and our beloved villain Uncle Dennis have already lost in the court of public opinion. I hope these incredible investigative findings can help expedite this most enjoyable descent into the fiery furnace of NBA obscurity.

Another little thought on this, Silver and the NBA are in new territory with the NBA fans. Live games and TV access have never been more expensive. Roasting a billionaire would remind the world who the NBA works for, the fans. Not the highlights on YouTube fans, but, the real fans like us. This is such a vital story that ties so many threads that are illustrative of our current time.

So in court depositions, when the Aspiration CEO was asked direct questions about Steve Ballmer - he pled the 5th. I didn't think one could plead the 5th in a civil matter . . . unless you don't want to admit to a criminal act.

Said it in another thread but the 30 for 30 writers are having a field day with all of this material.

What are the realistic expectations from this? Ballmer forced to sell? Loss of picks? Kawhi I eligible to play?

It is vindicating for Pop and the Spurs. At the time, we were like “give him anything”, but clearly the Spurs were never gonna do any of this bullshit. I’m sure the reason they didn’t go public with the sketchy demands was to let Kawhi do it, just not to them. Talk about patience

Yeah Spurs are looking good in all this because even Toronto was leaking stuff back when he left them. Pop was still defending Kawhi just last year against the fans. And Kawhi barely had anything to say about it.

I still remember how the other fanbases and the media all turned against the Spurs and pretended like Kawhi was a saint that was being forced to play injured.

Dude has shown his true colors time and time again. He and his Uncle are pieces of shit and I can only hope some real consequences come from this.

Silver gotta void the contract, suspend Leonard for at least a year, force Balmer to pay the contract out plus luxury tax penalties to the other owners, and then kick that fat bald fuck Balmer outta the league. There is no way there can't be hell to pay after the Celtics blew up a 64-win championship team to play the game by the rules.
