"Kawhi Leonard? What about him? Oh, the investigation? Yes, of course - we have top people working on that! We will have a full report on it, but these things take time and we want to give them the opportunity to be as thorough as possible. We should be able to wrap this up by 2028 - early 2029 at the latest."So is Silver going to do anything? Because it doesn't sound like any real punishment is going to happen here
Many of the documents are already available through the BK filing. The only hold up would be on emails and text messages, but the documentary evidence alone is damning enough. DONALD STERLING WAS BANNED FOR LIFE FOUR DAYS AFTER THE NBA STARTED INVESTIGATING HIM.People expecting an internal investigation like this to wrap up in two weeks are insane. If you want severe consequences for Ballmer/LAC/Kawhi, you want a lengthy and thorough investigation so the league can stand by doing its due diligence properly. That's why they hired Wachtel (who'll want to bill the hell out of this anyway). Wachtel will start with document requests, which will most likely be negotiated by the Clippers' attorneys. They'll review those and likely go back to the well, asking for more. Then will come witness interviews. Then a report. That is a process that will take months at least. Plus, there is no urgency in getting this done yesterday anyway.
Silver very well may do nothing. I have no idea about that. But just because he hasn't banned Kawhi in two weeks time does not mean nothing will happen.
You got the 1000th post on the site. CongratsPatience, people!
The Sarver investigation took 10 months. This is a more complex situation. I'm wishing for closure on this before the playoffs, but, that's highly unlikely. I expect next summer or pre-season to be the final verdict on this, if not later.
I didn't think it would be announced already but Silvers been interviewed about the issue a couple times and based on his responses it sounds unlikely that any severe punishment is going to happen at allPeople expecting an internal investigation like this to wrap up in two weeks are insane. I think this is less complicated than the Sarver racism & sexual abuse thing. It's a simple logic puzzle: why would Aspiration pay Kawhi ten times more than it paid Leo DiCaprio, then require him to do no work? Why would there be no announcement about Kawhi's endorsement deal? Forgetting the 1st investment, why would Ballmer & Wong invest and additional $12 million into a company that wasn't making payroll and had no customers or future contracts? Why would the former COO, CIO, CLO and CTO of said company declare in writing that the deal was a salary cap circumvention if it wasn't true?Patience, people!

Silver isn’t doing the investigation. The same law firm that did the Sterling and Sarver investigation is. Neither of those two gentlemen own an NBA franchise now. This doesn’t inspire confidence in Silver: https://streamable.com/9zbzzp
Yeah Spurs are looking good in all this because even Toronto was leaking stuff back when he left them. Pop was still defending Kawhi just last year against the fans. And Kawhi barely had anything to say about it.What are the realistic expectations from this? Ballmer forced to sell? Loss of picks? Kawhi I eligible to play?
It is vindicating for Pop and the Spurs. At the time, we were like “give him anything”, but clearly the Spurs were never gonna do any of this bullshit. I’m sure the reason they didn’t go public with the sketchy demands was to let Kawhi do it, just not to them. Talk about patience
