Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere but Fox may miss the first few games of the regular season.

SI - De'Aaron Fox

A full training camp would have been great for our playoff prospects but this may have a significant impact on those efforts.

With Fox out I think Mitch will start Wemby, Barnes, Champagnie, Vassell and Castle

two is one and one is none. people were worried about the redundancy but over an 82 game season the depth will be appreciated.

I, for one, am ready for the Spurs to join the Dybansta sweepstakes. One more year!

Not to mention any time we play OKC. They just love to jam up primary ball handlers on teams that only have one.

agreed. it's depth stretch in the season and they stack in the playoffs. plus different styles, they can match up different assignments or if there is foul trouble. what sucks is Harper being out at the same time but that just demonstrates the point. KO and Kornet give good depth on the other end, the team is pretty shored up. hope the situation helps Castle break out or something there is always a silver lining.

maybe break out is the wrong term lol but we all know he can still work on shooting. the opening may afford more time to refine what otherwise wouldn't have happened in such a hopefully accelerated manner

Harper should be the starter over vassell
Nah, it's better if he starts his career off the bench. Less pressure, more opportunity. Give him the keys to the second unit. His starting days will come sooner rather than later.

Oh come on!! not all rookies need to come of the bench on their rookie season. Kawhi was a starter on his rookie season. And beside harper is a 2nd overall pick and already a better player than vassell

Fox says he feels ready to go right now…but the medical staff is -of course- being extra conservative…

I think Bryn Forbes is still available.

did you catch the stories or is the joke funnier than for that context? the context is domestic battery allegation. im not even sure if he's out of jail now or allowed to travel

Kawhi earned that starting job by coming to camp with his jumpshot completely remade in the form Chip Engelland taught him after training two days before the lockout severed ties between Leonard and the coaching staff. Can't imagine how thrilled the coaching staff was to see him shooting that Kobe form instead of the San Diego State chuck from behind his head form he came to the team with.

Honestly sounds like Fox is more likely to play the opener than Harper. I'm saying this based on Fox thinks he's ready to go and it's the team holding him out versus apparently Harper can't even dribble a basketball at the moment.

Yeah. Hopefully Fox can prove this to the training/medical staff so they can clear him. The time for tanking is over and the team needs to show Wemby that we are serious about winning. This means it's time to find out what we have, what fits, and what needs to be jettisoned.

In the grand scheme of things, sitting fox for the first week or two to reduce likelihood of a lingering or more serious injury seems fine to me. It just sucks because everyone is ready to see the whole roster in action but otherwise no real downside other than taking a little longer to gel
