Player Best Guard rotation in the NBA for the next decade

A couple of games ago, Harper was checking into the game and the camera did a close up on him. He hadn't even played a minute yet but looked so dispirited. Like he was dreading what was about to happen.

The coaches gotta work with him and put him in situations where he can succeed and build his confidence. Call a play for him, run him off some screens, do something other than the current rinse and repeat that is cratering our offense.

What do you think he's dispirited about? Dreading shooting the ball or missing layups or something else? I wouldn't think he's thinking like that before coming into the game. When he misses a layup or a shot he gets down for a second, but I don't think he's already like that before even coming into the game. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think he's stronger than that.

i think they're packing the paint because we aren't a 3 point shooting team and it's closed shit down for harper and he's struggling to adjust in his very first nba season.

Agreed on this. Both him and Castle are having the same struggled. Neither can shoot and without the lanes being opened its tough for them.

Both need a midrange game that will allow them to stop and pop. Could even be a floater game.

I'm really surprised how bad Dylan's three has been this season. I know his percentage was bad at Rutgers but he was taking a ton of pull up threes. But he shot something like 42% on catch and shoot threes at Rutgers so I figured that would translate to a respectable three point percentage here. Dylan's gotta figure it out because it's what stands between him being a pretty good point guard and a top 10 player in the league.

For like a decade, young players not only don't improve as shooters here, but often regress. I know they haven't targeted shooting, but still.

The biggest medium term question here is, if neither Castle or Harper become good enough shooters, how patient will Wembanyama be? Because his window is opening sooner than later and given his unique anatomy, it might not last as long as the typical superstar.

The NCAA 3 point line is shorter than NBA, right? Maybe Dylan's range doesn't quite extend out that far and he's had to adjust?

Good question. I don't know how it will all unfold if they don't improve fast enough for his timeline. I feel Victor will be very reasonable. He did say he wanted to grow with a young team at the start of the season, so I guess we'll see.

I promise I'm not trying to pick on Stephon... but... it needs to be pointed out...

The bar is so high for Harper & Castle. This is how Manu and Parker operated in their heydays: passes and moves done in their sleep..

Thanks for sharing this lovely video montage. Brings a lot of happy memories! I remembered this play the moment I saw the first one in the video.. but I didn't expect that Manu and Parker had executed this so many times!

should be running this for fox - kick on the burners to blow by the lane defender

While we would be lucky if Harper and Castle reach Manu/Tony levels, they should be so much better in 2031 than they are now and Victor lurking near the rim will keep defenders away from the diver.

I was watching an interview with Dylan Harper with his dad and brother being interviewed by Tmac and Vince. They asked Dylan which teammates he had the best chemistry with and without hesitation he said Fox and Castle.

He mentions this at the 45:44 mark in this interview.

Manu is the greatest passer of all-time and it's not particularly close, tbh.

I guess Jokic can come somewhat close.
I feel like Manu was much better at threading needles and executing risky passes than Jokic and he often times would do it did it on the downhill. Manu was one of the rare legit no-look passer (the very last one on the clip was dirty :st-lol:)..

Ginobili is my favorite player of all time but Magic has to be up there. Kidd and Paul as well. And the Joker is not too shabby. And shit I hate Stockton, but he was pretty damn good. I would say Manu was one of the most artistic passers of all time along with Pistol Pete.

All the guys you are naming have the stats and the hype, but they don't have the passing skills that Manu had. Show me the best passing highlights of any of those guys and I can show you any from Manu that's infinitely better, tbh.

Magic and it's literally not close.

A random compilation of Manu passing it to a specific temamate is objectively more impressive than Magic's top 10 assists of his career.

Nobody outside of Manu's family likely loves the man more than I do, but you're out of your fucking mind.

As always, you're entitled to your opinion. I agree that Manu is underrated as a passer, as he is underrated as an all-time great player. I got to witness both of their careers in real time, however, and my opinion isn't changing.

manu was up there when it comes to flair and degree of difficulty on passes he was able to execute, but saying he's the best passer in nba history is laughable

judging who the best passer is just by looking at highlights is also probably not the way to go about it

What makes Magic a better passer in your opinion? What kind of pass could Magic make than Manu can't?
